They are lazy and do not feel like prebuffing their skills with buffing claws. That, or they don't know about prebuffing venom.

some people also buff with CTA (battle order) or demon limb. so if they dont have to switch claws, buff, switch back, buff bo, etc, etc it just saves time.

Wrong. Test in SP, used 2x+3 shadow disc/+3 venom claws and prebuffed slvl20 venom. Switched to chaos/fury without any skills, casted venom, and damage stays the same. This is due to % poison damage on bramble and trangs gloves acting as a "poison mastery" persay...check the sorceress forums if you need proof, same applies with enchant. +3 venom plain 3 socket claws are much more desirable than +3 s/d claws on switch, unless you plan on prebuffing fade/BoS as well.

Test in SP, used 2x+3 shadow disc/+3 venom claws and prebuffed slvl20 venom. Switched to chaos/fury without any skills, casted venom, and damage stays the same.Were these 2x+3SD/+3Ven claws, or were they claws that only gave +3 Venom or + 3 Shadow Disciplines? There is a big difference.

My understanding of mastery with venom/enchant:
damage = base * (1+syn/100) * (1+cmast/100) * (1+smast/100)

base = base skill damage at time of casting
syn = synergy bonus; 0 for assassins
cmast = mastery at time of casting
smast = mastery at time of striking

Now, if you were to use some magical +3 SD claws to buff venom (and fade/bos/shadow), you could socket each one with +10/-x facets and get more mastery in addition to trangs/bramble. This extra 20% boost should make the casting claws more effective than simply chaos/fury buffing when they have +3 venom automods. Even better results could be obtained by using (very very rare/expensive) +3 SD / +x Venom claws with facets.

If I am wrong about something, please let me know; this info is consistent with what I have read in every assassin and sorc forum that I have been into.

Maybe I'm completely misunderstanding you, but I think what you're saying is explained by a lower level Venom being unable to override a higher level. AFAICT, bramble, trangs, and poison mastery don't enter into your results at all. Or maybe I'm just sleepy.
