Uppgrade question

HI. I have just found an ethereal executioner sword and is just wondering if
its possible to uppgrade it to a colossus blade. I havnt found a way myself
but i remember someone on this forum said it was possible to uppgrade normal items. I am non ladder BTW. Thx in advance

because finding a normal beserker axe with 15 ED is irritating :rant:
now im forced to use the cube recipe and hope for 4 or 5 sockets :grrr: .

Of course then you'd have to hunt your tail off to find a zod rune AND then the socket quest would have to be dedicated to this. What are the odds of finding a LEGITIMATE ZOD RUNE on your own (assuming this is NL, so you are not cubing runes up to zod)?

If you mean girlfriends with gf's, I wouldn't want one of those, and GF could never be eth due to the indestructable mod. Making items eth would be way to overpowered, so keep on dreaming everybody !

Like Hal said, you can't upgrade a normal item, so there's no way to get a CB to make a runeword. However, instead of just throwing it away Imbune it. If you happen to get lucky with the rare mods, you can then upgrade the rare item and possibly have one of the godliest items in the game. I pick up the following items to imbune:

Eth. Crystal Swords/Dimentional Blades
Eth. Great/Executioner Swords
Eth. War/Naga/Zerker axes

might as well not let it go to waste.

Slayer Guard has a base defence 93-120
so arreats has 279 to 360 defence assuming perfect ED
Guardian Crown has a base defence of 117-168
upped arreats has 351 def(lower than normal) to 504 assuming perfect ED
eth zod arreats would have (eth bonus is 50% extra base defence).
417-540 assuming perfect ED

Thx Jordy666 and Tothepoint, so ethereal arreat + zod is better... more def, lower req etc.... too bad upgrading is bugged for ethereal armor.. this is including helm i guess. Imagine Upgraded zoded ethereal arreat .. WOW!!!

you got to remember that eth arreats requires a zod rune, and a normal upped arreats only requires a lem, ko and a perfect diamond.

A 200% ed arreat -> random % ED when upgraded
Ethereal armor loose the 50% bonus when upgraded.

that's the 2 things that keep me from upgrading....

That would be random base defense instead of max base defense+1.

a 200% ed arreats will always be a 200% arreats. It's the base def that is random, which will give a wide array of values for the total def.

I saw a 199% up arreat - guardian crown with 370 def.... I personnally find it low for an 199%. I was pretty sure it's 370.

So base def guardian crown : 117-168
200% of an up arreat could be between 351 and 504 def.
the one i saw is quite a crappy one then: 370 def.

What you should do zalt is make it a rare and get alot of sojs and p skulls. Then get these mods on the rare.
