I built my 9th Hammerdin and I think I finally got him right. At least this one I've taken to 92 so far since I was more impressed than normal. Keep in mind I'm using him for MF:

Gear:
Shako UM
Enigma Wyrmhide
HOTO
HOZ UM and upgraded 193ed
49 War Travs
Arachnid Mesh
Fists - Upgraded, Ethereal
SOJ
Crafted +2 Pally Caster ammy
Rare FCR/10 All Res ring
7 x Combat Charms
15/20 Anni
Switch Gear: CTA +5 BO/Splendor shield

Stats:
Conc/BH Damage: 13k-13k Level 43 BH
Secondary Skill is Zeal, not used in a long time
FCR: 96
Resists: Max in Hell - 75 to All
Life (Base): 1584 (Not BO'd/Oak'd)
Block: Max 75%, uses Holy Shield

Other skills of note: Level 34 Holy Shield (Almost 15k def), Redemption (1 pt), Level 34 Blessed Aim

There are only a few things I could think of to make this guy a little better. Without saying it on my side, I wonder if anyone else has an opinion? I dumped his 50 All res Viper to experiment with an Enigma (I've never had one before) and I'm pretty happy with my choice. But that cost me 30 FCR and dropped him to 96 FCR.

I use him for about everything, and he has yet to lose a duel to a non-Trapper... even with the gear he has on. Suggest to me what you would change.

Can you post your ammy's mods? Just curious.

Nothing special, has 6% FCR and +2 Pally skills, and some minor mods too. Poison Length -75% and Poison Res 32% Regen Mana 8%

Still trying to craft another one, but no luck yet.

Well, keep trying then. Good luck.

You can lost 20FCR since your still in the 10 frame zone which means that extra 20FCR is doing nothing. I suggest you switch your FCR ring for a SOJ/BK, and your ammy for maras. The maras will also add to your BO if you've got CTA since its + all skills not pally skills.

Hope that helps

Excellent advice Immortal King. :winner: That's exactly the advice I was looking for.

Since you came up with that advice, I'll spill my thoughts and see what anyone thinks:

Replace the Shako with a Rare or Magic +2 Paladin/20FCR Circlet - socketed with Um(s)
Replace the Ammy with a better Caster Ammy that hits +2/15FCR or more
Continue using the FCR rare ring

Would hit 125 FCR and all skills are handled. But since he's for MF, I'm going with IK's advice there, I can't believe I didn't think of that on my own since I'm sitting well above 75 FCR.

Gmm its really depend what you using this pal for ...
for MF? then replaces um in shako for ptopaz or ist for pvp then replace shako with BerBer +2 skill circlet with 20FCR....
Amulet - well if you lacking in resist departement I'd go for mara for PvP tough I'd aim for +2skill/20FCR
For PvM/MF I'd also go for different rings wisp protector / dwarf star and gheed GC (lighting/fire absorb and MDR plus up to +20MF from wisp)
Boots for MF travelers are best but for PvP I'd go for eth sandstorm treks and would try to push FHR at least to 46
Also for PvP I'd push your life trough 20 sc with secondary modes (preferebly 5FHR or 17 mana)

With the gear you mentioned, you appear to have slightly less than 200% MF. Which is not a lot. If you want to play with a hammerdin and his gear gives him good damage, cast rate, and resists, then you can add some MF, since some is better than none. If you want a char that will run around and kill anything and wear 500% MF (and be really fun), get a summoning necro.

Total MF is 226 with charms. I'm not overly concerned with the amount of MF because I play all characters with all stats maxed where and when I can because death is not an option. That means max block and max resists. I prefer to be able to take on LEB Conviction Multishot Extra Strong Dark Archers than worry about that extra percentage of MF. Remember that beyond 200% the diminishing returns really kicks in.

I've found the sweet spot for MF to be at around 250-300 MF, and with the areas I run I like to find ethereals and socketed items. Tonight he found 2 x Trang Helms, a Griffons, and 2 pair of Boneweaves. Not counting all the other useless uniques nobody wants. The sorcs get the big MF amounts, but MFing with a Paladin is so much fun because there isn't a single area that he cannot completely eviscerate. And I am that lone Hammerdin running everything else except Baal in full games, so it's quite a ride.

wat mfs are u doing? your daamge is overkill for pit runs where u can fit in more mf scs. my pally does 5k hammers and completes pits with ease and quickness. if u want to go overboard on mf then u should stash the 7 pally combats and fill it up with 7% mfscs.
