Grandfather vs. Kingslayer balrog

I have a berserker barb and I am trying to decide on:

Kingslayer Superior Balrog Blade

or good ed Grandfather (shaeled)

With ias gear I will do 10 fpa

Should I make my blade or trade the runes for a good GF? :scratch:

any thoughts? :surprise:

the gf will do 62-87 To 164-474 (113-280.5 Avg), and +20 to all atributes and adds life
GF= 5 base speed shael it wil be -15 so u need 143ias to hit 10 fpa
the kingslayer balrog wil do (someone may want to correct me);
perfect roll on kingslayer not counting sup ED bonus
15 to 75 (45 Avg)
15 * 3.7 = 55.5 rounded down i think 55 dmg
75 * 3.7 = 277
balrog blade = base speed 0 so with 30 ias from kingslayer you will need 108 % ias to hit 10 fpa.
i would choose kingslayer for the CB, OW and the major style points and u need less ias, to get a decent attack speed.

I think jordy is right about the style points. Runes to make Kingslayer were from my hellforges. Unless I find a GF myself, I am going with the Balrog Blade for style points

I'll assume:
- perfect mods for both @lvl 85.
- lvl 28 zerk, lvl 20 shout, lvl 28 mastery = 555% + 200% +163% = 918% ed
- 250 str after items for both weapons = 250% ed
- 45% ds, 20% cs = 56% chance for double dmg
- no max dmg charms
- no crushing blow... impossible to calculate avg dmg without insanely ugly and long math.

Grandfather:
Colossus blade: 25-65 dmg
minimum: 25*(1+(+250% ed)/100)+(+0 to Min) = 87.5
maximum: 65*(1+(+250% ed)/100)+(+(2.5*lvl 85) to Max) = 440
weapon dmg: 87-440
Total Min: (87+(+0 To Min))*(1+2.5 str bonus+(+918% ed)/100))*1.56 = 1721
Total Max: (440+(+0 To Max))*(1+2.5 str bonus+(+918% ed)/100))*1.56 = 8704
gf will average 1721-8704 dmg including 56% chance for deadly strike.
gf avg dmg = 5213

Kingslayer BB
balrog blade: 15-75 dmg
min: 15*(1+(+270% ed)/100)+(+0 to Min) = 56
max: 75*(1+(+270% ed)/100)+(+0 to Max) = 278
weapon dmg: 56-278
Total Min: (56+(+0 To Min))*(1+2.5 str bonus+(+918% ed)/100))*1.56 = 710
Total Max: (278+(+0 To Max))*(1+2.5 str bonus+(+918% ed)/100))*1.56 = 3525
KS BB avg 710-3525
KS BB avg = 2118

So the avg dmg of gf vs KS BB: 5213 vs. 2118

This is NOT taking crushing blow, attack speed or attack rating into account. If anyone wants to pick up my slack, go for it. This is all I care to do at the moment.

That's some cool math. Seems GF does some atrocious damage. 8k zerk max?? w/o charms, etc... That is some insane onehanded damage. Level 81 req is stiff. Thanks again for your input

I just used the formulae located here (http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=551).

Assuming you get 70 off weapon ias together (highlord's, 20%ias gloves, 15%ias in arreats, 15%ias in stormshield):
shael gf = 10 fpa (58% more for 9 frame)
KS BB = 10 fpa (25% more for 9 frame)
(ias calc from German ias calc (http://diablo2.ingame.de/tips/calcs/weaponspeed.php?lang=english))

10 frames/25 frames per sec = 2.5 attacks / sec

assuming 100% chance to hit:
gf: 2.5*5213 = 13,033 dmg/sec
KS BB: 2.5*2118 = 5,295 dmg/sec

This is still forsaking attack rating and crushing blow.

If I knew the gear setup you were planning to use outside of this, including charms, I might try to calculate with more exactness what the dmg and speed of the two weapons would be.

The Kingslayer Balrog Blade calculation is missing the 1.56 multiplier for deadly strike (in the actual calculation, not the written formula). So the KS BB is actually average 3303 instead of 2118. A little closer at least. I doubt crushing alone would make up that much of a difference, though.

You are correct, I screwed that up.

Total min: 1108
Total max: 5499
Total avg: 3303

The changing of my tar is a result of me having free time. My school was on a break between terms, so I had time to remake my tar. As I had time to make more posts and think more about my posts.

So after running pits and river of flame trying to find a superior balrog blade, a 6% sup dropped-gah.

After seeing the damage calculations, gf looks more and more appetizing.

I finally traded my mal for a 229 clean grandfather. I had offers of 248% for a gul, which I would trade, but I have seen 2 248% already. Is this a coincidence or are these dupes?

Seems safer to go with the 229%. Using Those formulas above, I figured on doing 5402 dmg without deadly calculations as oppose to 5579 for a perfect. That's only 3% difference and I keep my gul.

Raven/Carrion rings

will shael GF when i get to act5

Right now he is kicking *beep* and taking names in act4 with a Flamebellow :lol: . I can't wait til level 81 and put Grandpa on.

So far this is the most enjoyable character for me in L2. He seems to be versatile, well rounded, can go anywhere, do anything. Act2 was funny with those PI, MI Horadrim ancients. But I play with a friend's frenzy barb so that wasn't major.

1) you dont not have a person at your company like me, whos job it is to watch the router and firewall logs, to see what websites people are visiting, how much time they are spending there, if its not necessarily company related, is it gambling-porn-hatecrimes etc etc etc?
