im making a strafazon that will use hellrack. it has 2 sockets and i wanted to know if i should put 2 shaels in it or just 1? i wana know what itll take to hit some breakpoints to make it faster.

For a normal attack, here's the breakpoints for a colossus crossbow:
IAS: Frames:
0% 22
3% 21
7% 20
11% 19
19% 18
27% 17
37% 16
50% 15
70% 14
95% 13
138% 12
215% 11
As you can see, it's abyssmally slow, so ShaelShael is your only real option

I would recommend shael+hel instead because you can still get 40% Ias total and bring the strength req down to 132 which is better than the 160-ish it is before. Amazons get no bonus to bow damage with strength so you want to have the lowest base strength that you can get.

Here are the Strafe breakpoints for 7 arrow Strafe with Hellrack (warning! they are pretty weird and don't convert to conventional speed notation very well):
Amazon Strafe
Entry: AMA1XBW (Frames: 20, ActionFrame: 9, StartFrame:0, Rollback: 50)
WSM: 10, SkillIAS: 0
Speed |Full sequence +cleanup |Len|IAS|EIAS
------+-------------------------+---+---+----
23/6 |11,6,6,6,6,6,6+12 |59 | 0| -11
22/6 |11,6,6,6,6,6,6+11 |58 | 0| -10
21/6 |10,6,6,6,6,6,6+11 |57 | 2| -9
20/6 |10,6,6,6,6,6,6+10 |56 | 6| -5
19/5 |9,5,5,5,5,5,5+10 |49 | 11| 0
18/5 |9,5,5,5,5,5,5+9 |48 | 22| 8
19/5* |9,4,5,5,5,5,5+9 |47 | 27| 12
17/5 |8,5,5,5,5,5,5+9 |47 | 29| 13
16/5 |8,5,5,5,5,5,5+8 |46 | 32| 15
15/4.5|8,5,4,5,4,5,4+8 |43 | 42| 21
15/4 |8,4,4,4,4,4,4+7 |39 | 50| 25
15/4 |7,4,4,4,4,4,4+8 |39 | 58| 29
14/4 |7,4,4,4,4,4,4+7 |38 | 70| 34
15/4**|7,3,4,4,4,4,4+7 |37 | 95| 43
14/4**|7,3,4,4,4,4,4+6 |36 |105| 46
11/3.5|6,4,3,4,3,4,3+6 |33 |120| 50
11/3 |6,3,3,3,3,3,3+5 |29 |215| 67
------+-------------------------+---+---+----
* = second arrow is 4 frames long, the rest are 5 frames
** = second arrow is 3 frames long, the rest are 4 frames
Hellrack is pretty slow for Strafing and maybe you should use a faster bow to Strafe mobs and use Hellrack against single bosses. Or at least freeze the mobs with Freezing Arrow first and then Strafe'em down with Hellrack.

liessa i dont understand the clean up number. Mind xplaining this to me? or anyone else that knows what it is.
i would suggest not even using a xbow for strafing any other bow would do better than that thing. Just too slow imho
the cleanup is the amount of animation time it takes before you can act again, or get out of strafe-lock, the easy way to test this is to get to a location that has no monsters. If you fire a strafe, you'll only shoot one arrow, so if there were no cleanup time, you should be shooting an arrow every 9 (if you have 9/2 or 9/3) frames... a respectable speed, but you don't. You'll notice it's a bit slower than 9 frames. That represents the cleanup time.
There is a similar wait time for Dragon Talon assassins on their 7/3/3/3/3 kicks.
I didn't realize this until recently either since most of my strafe playstyle consists of 1 strafe, then reposition, then another strafe. It's more noticable if you just stand in one place autofiring.
interesting but i see a problem.
the 11/3 breakpoint shows a first arrow of 6 frames & 3 frames per additional arrow and then a 5 frame cleanup. the first arrow plus cleanup = 11. this would mean that a single arrow strafe would require 6 frames plus 5 frames clean up for a total of 11 frames. using genXcub's example this strafer would shoot 1 bolt every 11 frames which is the same as the breakpoint suggests.
based on this 9/2 appears to still be 9/2 or perhaps 5,2,2,2,2,2,2+4. either way you count them, a 7 arrow strafe would take 21 frames. unless I am reading the chart wrong of course.

You are correct, XZON. 9/2 Strafe is 21 frames long with 7 arrows. The old way of notating "9/2" instead of "4,2,2,2,2,2,2+5" is still good, because it still tells the truth per se in a familiar and summarized form.
The "clean-up" frames are present in all attacks, not just in attacks like Strafe/Zeal/Fend, but with a single action attack they don't matter much and would just confuse everybody too much. For example, check out this table for amazon normal attack with a -10 javelin:
Speed |Full sequence +cleanup |Len|IAS|EIAS
------+-------------------------+---+---+----
11 |7+4 |11 | 0| 9
11 |6+5 |11 | 8| 17
10 |6+4 |10 | 10| 19
9 |6+3 |9 | 26| 31
9 |5+4 |9 | 42| 41
8 |5+3 |8 | 50| 45
7 |5+2 |7 | 95| 63
7 |4+3 |7 |142| 75
------+-------------------------+---+---+----
As you can see, there are actually two different 7 frame breakpoints at 95% and 142% IAS. The first one has 5 frame attack and then 2 frame wait while the second one has 4 frame attack and 3 frame wait, but they both last total of 7 frames. The only difference in practice is that the second 7 frame attack gets it's initial hit one frame faster, but since the attacks are usually performed several times in a row, it doesn't matter much I think.
i hate to be a stick in the mud, but i made a hellrack bowazon, and i was pretty disapointed with her. i did the shaelshael, and even with the insane elemental dmg on that weapon, i just wanst seeing the returns on the dead bodies. thata bow takes so much str that i think i didnt get enough into my dex to be at the dmg lvl i really wanted.
these days, i keep screenshots on my website that tracks my chars as they progress, but regretfully i didnt take any before i deleted her and remade her without the hellrack (i have botd now).
my friend just made a zon with buriza, and hes doing awesome. were only in act1 hell with our chars, but hes having no trouble at all taking down monsters (well, except the notorius phys immunes, where i can see the hellrack possibly taking up some slack there).
