First Frenzy Barb

Hey all,

Decoy here, I was interested in making a frenzy barb. I, however, am not super rich at all so I can't afford the stormlashes, death cleavers, and beasts recommended for this build. I do however have these weapons to choose from and since I want to only max out one mastery I was wondering about your thoughts on the choices...

Razor's Edge Tomahawks
Bstars
Lightsabers
Nords
Ethereal Demon Limbs
Horizon's Tornado
Gimmershred (would this require me maxing THROWING mastery if I melee with them?)

No, only if you throw them.

In my opinion, I would use the Razors Edge's or well axes period.
The reason is axes practically only require you to breathe for required stats/levels to use. So thats perfect for a frenzy barb to start out with. Requiring less str and dex means you have more life or well more flexabilty with stats in general. On top of that you have access to more runewords and uniques then you would maces and swords.
Axes base stats tend to be faster and more damage.
5 socket naga + honor runeword is a good start and a way to go for many a levels, then eventually work your way up to getting those more expensive items.
Plus you have the gimmershreds already so you'll have two great weapons to start out with.

Yes, throwing mastery only needed if you plan on tossin' em at shtuff.

In melee, yes they use axe mastery. When thrown, they use throwing mastery. So unless you plan on throwing them, you're perfect with just axe mastery.

The Bstar and the nords would make a nice comb also.. Not to sure about what hits better in the long run. Axes or maces. But then maces also include septers. There are some real nice ones there. I know of the fantastic BOTD zerk. Having two of them as a frenzyer would be great.

I have a lvl 90 frenzy barb and I use 2 shaffers. Socketed with shael runes and some ISA gear.

Chosing a wep class is such a problem for barbs. The day you chose axes is the day you find a great sword.. I always liked maces...
