barb armor question

what is better 4 a barb stone or duress and what type of armor is better to use to make runewords.

stone for bvb/melee dueling... duress for everything else. For stone, go with archon/great hauberk/boneweave. Archon is the best balance of str req and def. For duress, either a dusk shroud or archon.

Also take a look at Gloom. If you need some extra resists it's nice as well (and same price range)

Gloom:
Average defence, low hit recovery, 30 more resist all.

Stone:
High defence, good hit recovery, defence vs misiles.

Duress:
Low defence, medium hit recovery, damage bonuses in multiple ways.


I am not a dueler, but it seems people like open wounds in fair duels (not pk) so wouldn't duress be the choise for that?
The Open wounds bonus definately is more a pvp thing than a pvm thing.

because of its lower def, people generally prefer to eschew duress to use stone/eth carpace for melee/bvb situations. duress is still great against casters for exactly what you mentioned, open wounds.

I have question on armor and it's similar to his and I don't want to make a new thread so...

in PvP am I better off to go with the higher def and higher str req of an elite enigma or go with low def/low str norm enigma in order to maximize vit

considering PvP also involves max shot etc the def wouldn't hurt either, I ask because I have enigma wire fleece and wonder if I should trade it

If you were to go with an enigma mage plate, you'd still have low reqs... low enough you could get away with base str if you had a good anni and you wouldn't be comprimising too much def.

A wire fleece armor isn't too bad, but a great hauberk or archon are better. Also, I've heard people getting enough str from items to be able to use a dusk enigma with base str.

Good enough. Archon is better for a barb imho, but wire fleece is fine too. Ofcourse, this is assuming that you don't wish to become the 1337est barb dueller on West/East...

i havnt played for a long long time so i generaly dont know the price of enigma
itd be nice if u guys can give me the rune and item worth of it, cuz i have a wire fleece duress but, id get an enigma if its that good for barbs :buddies:
