I was just wondering, if you have sockets what you should socket for this build. I know strength is a great stat, but is it better to add strength to add to damage or max damage and ED not on the weapon?
+x damage mods will only affect your 3 charge-up attacks.
Strength will add more damage afaik (haven't run the numbers, and it will depend on levels of skills, and what boots you are wearing).

Myridon Greaves, Upped Goreriders now. I thought that ED in armor, sheilds, helms, etc (not weapons did help your kick damage?

strength. Max damage, even from non-weapon sources, won't affect your kick damage and non-weapon ED will only affect the second half of the kick damage equation.
Hmm, due to RL kicking my butt lately i haven't had time to post any long winded responses, so let me do that now. :lol:
Let's setup a TS/Dtailer here. 300 str (i wouldn't build one with less and i generally want much more), 150 dex (using shadow dancers, IK gloves/belt and a 'tuc that's easy to hit with little actual investment) and level 30 TS/Dtail (2040 and 340 ED respectively)
Our base damage with nothing added is:
mindamage =((300+150-20)/4*(100+2040)/100+83*(100+(300*120/100)+2040)/100)* (100+340)/100
=(430/4*2140/100+83*(100+360+2040)/100)*440/100
=(107*2140/100+83*2500/100)*440/100
=(228980/100+207500/100)*440/100
=(2289+2075)*440/100
=4364*440/100
=1920160/100
=19201 minimum damage
I'll skip listing all of those steps for the rest of these.:)
maxdamage = ((300+150-20)/3*(100+2040)/100+149*(100+(300*120/100)+2040)/100)* (100+340)/100
=3060+3725*440/100
=29854 max damage
Our damage range we'll use as a base is 19201-29854. The average is 24527.5
Now let's run the kick damage numbers with 10 str added from a rune.
mindamage= ((310+150-20)/4*(100+2040)/100+83*(100+(310*120/100)+2040)/100)* (100+340)/100
= (2354+2084)*440/100
=19527 min damage
maxdamage= ((310+150-20)/3*(100+2040)/100+149*(100(310*120/100)+2040)/100)* (100+340)/100
= (3124+3742)*440/100
=30210 max damage
The range is 19527-30210. The average is 24868.5
Now, run the nubers with a 40 ED jewel instead of the str rune. Remember, non-weapon ED will only get counted in the second half of the damage equation.
mindamage= ((300+150-20)/4*(100+2040)/100+83*(100+(300*120/100)+2040+40)/100)* (100+340)/100
= (2289+2108)*440/100
=19346 min damage
maxdamage= ((300+150-20)/3*(100+2040)/100+149*(100+300*120/100)+2040+40)/100* (100+340)/100
= (3060+3784)*440/100
=30113 max damage
The range is 19346-30113. The average is 24729.5. That's 139 less damage with a 40 ED jewel.
This might seem a little strange until you consider the damage equation. That 10 str loses to the 40 ED jewel in the second half of the equation, but is multiplied by the TS bonus in the first half which more than makes up the difference.
For TS/Dtailers, the order to increase damage is +skills, str, dex, non-weapon ED. Dex is in there before the non-weapon ED also. A 10 dex jewel would also beat out a 40 ED jewel, just not by much.

would you sub out +3 MA gloves with 10IAS for the IK gloves???

Yes. Using the above example, if you swap the gloves and belt out, subtract the str and dex added by the IK set items and then add the +3 MA skills, your average damage goes over 25900. Better than a thousand higher than with the IK set stuff. You would have to find other means of gaining some IAS, but from a damage perspective, well worth it.
If you do, swap the belt also. Tgods or something else is better than the IK belt by itself. Putting the Tgods into the damage equation brings the average to over 26600.
