My friends and i are setting up a wind druid...we've got more or less the perfect equipment that was in fenris's guide.

my question is which merc should i get? i know mercs dont matter much, but i'd like a strong one for pvm situations...

rogue im thinking?

For style points why not go with a act 3 lightning merc. Not much of a storm without the lightning now is it?, also adds to versitility, though they are regarded as slow killers.

My elemental druid is going with a HF merc. Just for the extra control over the masses coming at me. Hurricane and HF aura hit at slightly different times so they work well together.

I agree w/ Uzziah, a holy freeze merc, even though somewhat nerfed in hell in terms of slowing ability will still make crowd control and hitting monsters with your tornadoes MUCH easier. I've been playing a wind druid for a while and even though I kind of have an idea of how to aim my tornadoes, it's still pretty random and so a HF aura gives you several tries to hit the mobs.

EDIT: if your merc has the reapers toll, then decrep + holy freeze will slow them even more and make your tornadoes hit harder (more damaging)

I'd go with an act 2 defiance merc. the boost is does to your defence is really worth it. They also have more str than HF mercs and so you dont have to wait as long to put good items on them.

you really shouldnt get into to many tight spots in pvm w/ a wind druid ... usually if you die you die instantly. Only tight spot (shockingly) is in 8 player games vs. pi's. So maybe a act 3 ice merc for crowd control and some elemental damage ... or any other merc w/ elemental damage.

Act 2 HF merc with Reapers Toll, upgraded Shaft (eth, if you can get it) and Guillaumes face. (Shael/15 IAS/15 IAS will even get you fastest attack speed)

DR, CB, loads of ll, fast attack and chance to cast decrep (removes almost all PI).

This guy never ceases to amaze me, since I got him those items. I swear he is immortal

Eth Stone=almost always above 2.8k Def...Unless you choose some 400 Def crap Armor and get crap ED.

You don't need a eth reapers. You don't use a reapers for its damage(although it is nice). You use it for its 33% chance to cast decrepify, which will increase your own damage by 50%(9k nados are nice), remove most phys immunes, slow them by 50%, and decrease their dmg by 50%.

A normal reapers will go for pgems or for free. You can afford one if you can afford a eth bonehew, or eth stone.

who said i could afford stone+bonehew...i beleive i mentioned at the very beginning that this was a joint account...

my friends provide all the items, i provide elemental gcs and do the early lvling

My bad for not reading that part, but trust me, your friends could afford it in a second. Seriously, pgems. I bet you could get one for a ko rune too.

Up to you whether or not you want to be 50%+ more effective. :)

Sorry, I am confused now? You even asked for a socketing advice...

Well..even if you cannot afford anything on your merc, I still suggest an act 2 HF merc. The aura covers the whole screen at high levels, which is a lot more than your Tornado.

There are some lower end weapons that are also nice, like Hone Sudan or Blackleech Blade or even Meat Scraper will do. I suppose some ppl will give you the latter ones for free.. In fact I give you a meat scaper or Tanner Gorerod right away, if you are on EuHCL.

i use "i have" in this case rather freely:P

basically, i asked my friends and they were willing to part with those things for a merc. im the guy who has to do the dirty work of lvling up the druid...*sniff*

but on a brighter note, my/our druid gets to wear lidless until SS shows up on the scene!

Hahaha..just to keep messing with this thread...
Personally I think Rhyme boneshield > Lidless.

Okay, Lidless has faster cast and +1 skills, but Rhyme gives you 40% faster block, 20% more block, 25% res all, CBF and some mf :winner:

well, im using SS as my main shield so that doesnt matter

lidless is just for my cta...stronger bo=more life:)

Sigons shield rules. I use it right up to ss. Str req is pretty harsh, but I always have a inv full of str charms until enigma kicks in anyway.

Rule #1. Never ever ever ever ever ever listen to anyone on bnet. In fact, if you do the exact opposite of whatever they say, you will do well.

thats good:)

i left hurricane running just to piss him off, and then i squelched him...

a lot of stuff is said on bnet, including this guy who "claimed" to be able to tell what bow u used by looking at the way you hold it....

Oh well I can do that easy. If your holding a WF you hold it with a small look of determination on the zons face. If it's say a Mavina's, the zon has little eyebrows that make the expression of, "why the hell am I using this bow instead of WF" See its not really hard to catch if your a seasoned player such as me

Which reminds me of the guy who said the full M'avs set only works well in normal and NM. I asked him what he would be doing in normal at lv 70 - since that is the req. on bow and armour.
For which of course I got the usual "Stfu Noob".

Where is the "Fist of God" instant PK when you need it?
