View Full Version : WW/Trap Hybrid PvP ::: Input Appreciated

Hey guys - I've decided to make one last pvp character, and I wanted to try something different - a WW/Trapper Hybrid. I figure she'll be able to handle almost any situation, as well as keep the enemy occupied while the LS's go off.
My question is this:
Should the WW aspect of my build worry about heavy phsical damage, or seek damage through Venom and Open Wounds? I don't think I'll be able to max Claw Mastery and have a high enough Lightning Sentry (I'm seeking 7k and above).
I'm thinking I can hit around 800 Poison damage with Trangs Gloves and my +skills, and if I were to throw on Gore Riders and use a Fury claw, that would give me a high chance for OW. Another reason I ask is because I have found a 3 open socket +3 Lightning sentry Greater Talon, but the damage is low due to the fact that it's exceptional, and I don't think I'll locate a +3 LS elite claw anytime soon, or 2 for that matter.
My original plan was to make a Chaos in a suwayyah and a Fury in a Feral Claw, both of them with an inherent +3 LS skill on them. Yes yes call me crazy, and say I'll never find them (oh but I will, I said this is my last character - I am determined :yep: ).
But I realize I'm trying to make a main Trapper with a backup WW skill - should I even worry about physical damage, or just use the WW as a means to administer Open Wounds and Poison damage?
Any other comments is greatly appreciated about how to get this build to be a successful one, I would love to write up a guide if this works out and let others partake in a build that has enourmous potential in my opinion. Thanks guys!

Well if u are gonna go ww i'd recomend shadow dancers ...u'd need the +2 shadow skills then the bonus on gores.
and if u play on europe realm ive got +3 ls suwayyah over hehe.

Actually....I traded for both 2 nights ago - one of them is a 3os Suwayyah with +3LS/+2MB/+3DS and another with just +3 LS - on US east ladder.
And I found the WW guides - the ones I was looking for - the links in the guide sticky are stubborn and won't work for me 95% of the time.
Thanks for reply tho - I'm gonna read the Trapper guide, the pvp WW c/c guide and the kicker/ww guide and try and blend them together as best I can.
I do have one more question though - is it worth the 4 points invested to get Dflight even though I will have an enigma? I know that dFlight could be useful because it is essentially a damaging teleport and if it lands, my OW's would really devastate sorcs.
If you're aiming for 7k (lvl. 40+), you can distribute points between CM & Venom at clvl. 90 (assuming maxing 3 traps only & finding 2x +3 LS claws), leaving everything else at 1. Try for a DF/LS claw to save 4 points. Your AR & Venom will be lower even while using Angelic combo & Demon Limb, of course. Private duels, all a high defense character has to do is use Tgods a/o GA and you'll basically be a gimped WWsin. But at least they'll react to you. Pubbies is different matter altogether.
Possible gear: Enigma or CoH, 10x Traps, anni, 2x +3 LS claws (Chaos & Fury or Malice), Harley, Arachnid, SoJ = 43 LS.
If you choose to concentrate on physical damage, then you'd have maxed 3x trap skills while hopefully maxing CM. This allows higher AR (almost like regular WWsin) & LS damage but makes you reliant on e.d. modifiers to boost physical damage. You'll need items like Steelrends and and 160 armor and fine charms to even see WW damage of around 3k damage, if at all. But you can use other modifiers like OW to deal extra damage. Almost forgot - to get that physical damage up you'll need to boost strength significantly.

if u want to make a hybrid of somekinf and mainly a trapper i suggest you going for kicker/trapper way. this gives you the full power of traps as you can max both 4 traps, and u have a chance to max dtalon as well. and dragon talon has good damage plus very good ar. in a way you get the best of both worlds. ww looks nice on a assa, but with too low ar, you will have loads of problems.

So if I were to max 3 Traps (LS, CBS, SW) and use my 2 new +3 LS claws, I could reach a 7.1k LS - will that damage be adequate? With that setup, I can then use 7 Trap GC's, and 3 S/D GC's with +2 Shadow Dancers and put 15 hard points into Claw Mastery and Venom, with Trangs Gloves for an extra 25%.
I doubt I will use the Angelic Combo, I was never a fan of that. I'll just use my 240/19 Ravenfrost and use my Demonlimb to Enchant - and also - I think prebuffing Venom with 2x +3 Shadow claws will work nicely too....
I'll be looking at just over 1k damage in Venom, very nice open wounds (I'm all over the Fury + Chaos combo - looks very very nice), a level 30 Claw Mastery, and a Level 43 Lightning Sentry pumping out 7.1k damage.
Not sure how my AR will end up, but I will be digging up all my AR/life sc's and using them.
One more question on poison - I heard that poison duration is averaged now - if I were to use 100 psn sc's (that are over 5 sec) would that average the duration with my venom (of .2 sec) out to something like 2.4 sec? Eek that'd be bad.

well ive made a kicker/trapper u shouldnt max DTalon better to leave it at 18 with gear you'll get 30 and got more to spend on ls synergies...
try and get a claw with DF instead combined with +3 ls

Nope they fixed that venom will always do damage over 0.4 sec.

Ugh, bummer guys - this build just didn't work out. Sure the casual dueler wasn't a problem, but her AR was just way too low, and I had no plausible way of tripling it (yes, it was that low) to even come close to hitting pallies and barbs. And her trap damage was easily negated.
Ah well.

Hmm could you give some more detailed information char lvl amount of AR exact skill layout and used gear and what charms your using ladder or nonladder. Basicly your ar will always be crap compared to a smiter, i'd slap on on angelics for a nice AR bonus get cannot be frozen of trangs belt or cham something of your equipment. All in all you should be able to hit him 1/3 of the time assuming your of equal level and i'm not counting block offcourse .
