Has anyone ever found a rune higher than um in normal play? Should I stay in ladder and try to upgrade all my little runes into bigger ones? I know everyone says you can trade for them, but not me. No one wants what I have. It will take 96 lems to make a vex. That doesnt sound like much fun.
I've found one ist and one mal in normal play. If you're going after a vex, create characters to do hell hellforge and cube together two guls from that.
Um is my highest too. If you want to have higher runes, you need to go serious MFing and find elite stuff and trade it.
Hell Hellforge can also drop Mal, Ist, Gul but it never happened to me. I usually get Um, Lem, and an occasional Hel.

I've found a vex in hell cows before. Prior to that I never found a decent rune in general play, only from hell forge.
I found a gul and a mal from hell forge before, but seeing that I play NL, gul is worth nothing and mal is less than um.

Yup Im having a great time (Great by my standards) on runes at the minute
Picking up 2 Hels + 2 Lems + 2 Shaels and cubing just about every other rune I have up to the Dol and Sol level

I've found everythin up to ist + one jah singleplayer in .09. whats the deal with cubin at 1.1? can it be done non ladder non bnet?

Rune cubing past Thul can only be done on ladder. I don't know about single player, I could check but I got to go out in a minute.
Highest I've ever found in normal play is 2 Ohm's, one from the pit in 1.10 and 1 from one of pindle's minions in 09. My brother also found an Ist in cows in 09.

SP is the same as ladder, minus World Event and server side upgrades. That means rune cubing does work, and watch out for FE bosses :)

that's good news. Maybe i'll finally get the 1.1 patch.. great, i have a lot to cube, just didn't know it works singleplayer(hope i got u right) so i thought it's no use to go 1.1 without zod or somethin.. would have taken me a long time to find one:lol:

When 1.10 first came out, unique monsters which were fire enchanted did massive amounts of damage when they popped. They still do actually, but the magnitude was toned down a bit with a server side content upgrade. Since server side upgrades don't affect SP, you're going to have to wait for a new patch. If one ever comes out. So be careful, and make sure you ain't close by when they die.

Re: the council. so true. ugh i had a fully healed max BO barb drop to a sliver of life against one. Of course it was a CE FE which made it even worse, but not worst.

i found an ohm off pindle,jah off cows,vex in the pits and ist on the way to countess.all in the last 2 months. :thumbsup: when that vex dropped i about fainted. :lol:

My luck with runes generally sucks. I did find a Sur rune in the masoleum, but I do have lots of El's and Eld's

forgive me my noobishness, but if the rune cubing recipes work in singleplayer and ladder then where don't they work? in bnet games?Anyway, I'm banned from bnet cause my LoD is non-original so i'm kinda stupid with all these ladderchars and other stuff.. And I've already played about three years! It just sounds too good to be true that i could cube them...
the best rune ive found is lem.
Only nonladder realms charecters can not cube their runes.

Now what's the difference between ladder and nonladder? I got this game from my friend, it's pirate, and it doesn't work in bnet. I need to go bnet to make a ladder character, right. So If I can't go bnet I can't cube???

If you like the game go and get an original. It's worth the 10 €/$ for sure.

I've found 2 vexs and 2 ists (one from hellforge) on west NL. And a few Ums and Mals.

Actually, in NL you can cube all the way up to a dol, which is cool since I find a bunch of people who need shael runes and will trade mal and fal runes for them. It's just that past Thul, you need to include chipped gems with three of the runes to get to the next level. I do this personally on NL East.

According to Arreat Summit (see here (http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/cube.shtml)), cubing up runes stops at Dol.

if no one is finding very many vex runes... how do I trade for one. If I do find someone willing to part with one they may have found, whats its trade value?

just 30 min ago i got a ohm from pindle aswell :thumbsup:
I've had Ohm drop on Hell Travincial and just two days ago I was running Chaos Sanc with my summoner and happened to hit the alt key looking for a mana pot (Ran into a super pack that was two bosspacks and reinforcements) when I saw zod rune mixed in the middle of the assorted crap. I can honestly say, it's the most excited I've gotten on D2 in a long long while. Heh, I told my friends and then by default had to make another game to show them all...
