Is wearing Whitstan's guard the only way to achieve above 75% block??

Maximum possible block chance is 75%. I don’t know any way of making grater blocking. Whitstan's Guard doesn’t break this rule. Do you watch your block rate on character stats screen or on item stats screen?

EDIT:
Total Blocking = [(Blocking * (Dexterity - 15)) / (Character Level * 2)]

Blocking = A total of the Blocking on all of your items. (E.g: Guardian Angel, Twitchthroe, Any Shield, Holy Shield)
[] = Round Down

Note: Blocking on shield shown in game is capped at 75% while it may actually be higher. For a true account of most shields blocking ability... Look here forUnique, Set, and Magical/Rare shields. (for magical/rare, add the Blocking % from the suffix to the base blocking)

Note 2: Block chance is divided by 3 after the 75% cap. You can't block more than 25% when running.

The real block chance is calculated from the shield's base block chance (which the bonus is applied to), dex, level and class. I don't know the formula, but the higher your level, the more dex you need in order to keep up your block chance.

AFAIK the base block chance of shields has no limit, but the real block chance is capped at 75%.

Of course, you can use Holy Shield to greatly boost up your chances to block.

Actually, Holy shield can raise the block chance on the shield to far above 75%, but even if you would have over 75% block based on the formula, the actual maximum block is always capped at 75%.
