DirectX

Just a silly question. I got a new pc running on winxp. Installed my diablo-disks and when i run the video test, he says i cannot run diablo because directX 7a isn't installed. Installed directx from the diablo-cd but he still doesn't recognize it. Do I have to move some files or did I forget something?

I'm going crazy about this. Can someone explain and help me with this please?

I suggest downloading newer version of DirectX from microsoft's site and trying with that.

Try running Windows Update. If you are indeed using an outdated version of DirectX, you can choose to have Windows Update install the latest version.

the latest version is directX9 . u can download it if from www.microsoft.com

To check what version of DirectX you have, click Start -> Run, type in "dxdiag.exe", and hit enter. It'll take a few seconds, and it'll show you your system specs. On the bottom, it says "DirectX Version", and whatever version you have.

This is for Windows XP; not sure if it works the same with other versions.

Maybe you should update some of the drivers, grafic, sound etc.

I couldn't play Vice city because I hadn't updated my drivers
