View Full Version : Blade Shield for Anti-Caster Kicker?

I just made aMageslayer using chaos9's guide. I am pretty pleased with her at level 70. At this point I am just dropping points into weapon block. It is tough to spend all that time levelling to gain 1% point to block, but I know that it has to be done.

My question is: would it be worth it to try to put at least one point into Blade Shield? With maxed venom the damage should be ok even at 1 (more with skills), shouldn't it? I would look for a claw that adds to BS, but I am using two plus 3 to shadow skills claws on the switch, and I don't want to give one up for BS. Some casters are really fast, and I thought that if I had something that could hit if I even got close it would increase my chances of winning. I believe that BS only hits once per second. If I tele in with Flight, would there be a second delay from when I reappear, or an initial hit and then a second delay?

Also, is there a cap on increased run/walk? I have some plain +40% run walk myrmidion greaves on her, and with a level 8 BOS, a bunch of 5% and 7% R/W charms and a peasant crown, she is pretty fast. Is there a point at which increased R/W doesn't show a return?

Nice idea, kinda like the hurricane for druids albeit at a small scale though. I'd like to find out what the answer is too.

I have a slvl 87 Kicker with one point in BS, and I think it is a great skill (one point wonder). With max Venom a BS can deal a decent damage.

Never use more than one point, because you wont raise the damage, and the mana cost will be high and the duration low.

Its also a good idea to have 1 point in WoF.

Good luck
I'm convinced that BS works without delay when you DF.

Why do you need so much fast R/W, when you have DF ?

When I'm duelling casters, I prefere to use DF, because I can retain 60 % claw block.

Thanks for the reply! I will definitely put one point in BS now.

I find that the increased run/walk helps me out especially against trappers. I need to be able to stay ahead of the lightning as I set up my DF. Once I get them on the screen I do use DF. It also allows me the ability to run away and regroup or recast my shadow master if I get hit hard. Against sorcs or chars with enigma you are right, run/walk doesn't matter.

This is also a nice way of saying that I haven't found many decent charms for the kicker, so I use speed charms

I use BS on my kicker too. I am proud to say that I even took down a Guided Arrow amazon with 160/60, 120/45, BotD Hydra, and all the dupes that you can find on non-ladder. And what did I use? WoF and BS with Venom. Half the time, Zons will dodge your kicks. But, they can't dodge the BS. DFlight in, and they take big Venom damage whether they like it or not.

I'm planning on throwing on some Duress armor (as soon as I find a good 3-socket armor for it) to help add some Open Wounds to the BS. I'll be unstoppable!

I haven't fought many zons, but I can see where WOF would be invaluable there. It is always gratifying to beat someone with uber gear and no skill. You can't buy talent on ebay.

I have an 839 def Toothrow on her. The 40% chance of open wounds is nice. Plus she looks sexay in it!
