I'm in the process of building a rabies/feral ww.
My plan is to max oak, lycantrophy, rabies and creeper.
Since I am not putting any in vitality I will wear mostly +life equipment.
I plan on will eventually have near 400 strength which converts into ~440% ed with mauls.
Now the problematic part is that I don't know if mere strength bonus with a low level feral rage will make a big enough damage modifier to work. Even mediocre damage would suffice since I'll have creeper and rabies taking care of most monsters. I know I can up my damage output with a might merc, but if the strength bonus and feral don't cut it I might as well leave the poison immunes for the merc to handle.
So should I go with the titan build or rely on merc's physical damage?
edit: This is for PvM
Couldn't you just do rabies/fury? Or is it that you just don't like fury?
Use a carrion ring for the synergy and you get 20 more points to throw into fury or whatever. Not like the monsters are going to call you BM for using it(they nk anyway so its alright).
Really wouldn't rely on a merc by itself. A full pack of high life psn immunes would take a very long time for a merc to kill.

You got it right, I don't like fury. :surprise: It spreads the damage around allowing the monsters to regenerate(I know I can use prevent monster heal but that narrows the equipment selection even more) and overall it isn't designed for hit-and-hide tactics(too many attacks in one go with +skills).
The other reason for not using fury is that I don't have any extra points to pump it further than the initial point which leaves it's damage bonus rather lacking.
I would use a carrion wind if I had one but, I play single player and can't afford one anyway. On the positive side I can have creeper around all the time distracting monsters without constant charge repairs.
Thanks for the opinion, I guess I'll try the titan route and see what comes of it.

Do it, but add in a few more points to Feral if you can afford it. Titan Wolf using Feral Rage as a main attack skill would be very interesting, indeed.
Good luck, let us know how it works! :)

Yes, nice to see you're doing something different. Please post stats once you finish this.

Uh-oh. Have I been mistaken about fury all this time?
As an example, if your char screen reads fury dmg at 3000 is that 3k for the entire fury cycle or 3k per hit? If it is over the 5 hit cycle someone needs to beat me with a noob stick
Or, perhaps I just misunderstood the statement.

As stated before this sounds very interesting. I think Feral Rage has some things going for it in 1.10 :
Its supposedly uninteruptible, Fury is not.
It has it's own speed bonus so it can be quite fast.
Feral rage (at least in 1.09) defaults to a normal attack when low on mana, this makes it good against mana burners.
This almost makes me want to try a feral rage build myself. But i will first make my 5 fps mauler. And by then WoW has probably arrived

Don't worry you do 3K with each hit, what I meant was fury automatically targets up to 5 targets with one go so it takes longer for the first monster to die as opposed to you hitting the same monster over and over again until it keels over in defeat(as is the case in jab for example).
Well if you are already awaiting results you need to hold your horses, my char has just started act 2 normal so that gives you some idea to my progressing speed. :D I think it isn't against the rules to resurrect an old thread so I'll post here when I have reached the end of nightmare with a ~77lvl char.

Or you could just make a new thread, if you want. Either way would be fine.
And don't worry Joshua, it is the listed damage per hit. Calculating it otherwise would be too complicated. :)
Because blizz would never make anything overly complicated :)

Well, I just completed nightmare baal with my titan wolf. Here (http://upl.silentwhisper.net/uplfolders/upload2/Screenshot035.jpg) are the final stats. This (http://upl.silentwhisper.net/uplfolders/upload2/Screenshot061.jpg) is from the end of normal(to give you an idea of the lack of life).
First off, I think the build is very good for most situations. If there are leachable enemies around you are pretty safe as long as you don't give the monsters any slack. I had most problems were with skeleton mages and archers(not least because of crappy resists), sometimes stunning monsters also gave problems when wielding a slow weapon(Bonesnap). Hit and run methods seemed to work exceptionally well with feral rage.
Some more details on my equip
Normal act 2 - Nightmare act 4:
Weapon: Bonesnap(upgraded one when the level requirement was reached)
Armor: 4*Perfect topaz gothic armor
Helm: 3*Perfect topaz crown
Boots: Sigons sabot
Gloves: Sigons cage
Belt: Sigons wrap
Amulet: Nokozan relic(in act 2 nightmare switched to a rare +2 shapeshifting amulet)
Rings: Nagelring and rare mana leach(2%) ring(in act 2 nightmare changed the rare to a one that has 13 dexterity and 4% mana leach
Nightmare act 4 - ?
Weapon: Bonehew with 2*shaels
Armor: 4*Perfect topaz gothic armor
Helm: 3*Perfect topaz crown
Boots: Immortal kings pillar
Gloves: Immortal kings forge
Belt: Immortal kings detail
Amulet: rare +2 shapeshifting amulet
Rings: Ravenfrost and rare with dexterity and 4% mana leach
Probably have to change the armor and helm before taking on hell. Possibly replacing with duriels shell and tal rashas horadric crest.
The one thing I was dissapointed about was that rabies seems to be much faster meaning that feral rage is indeed slower than the calculator here claims.
Later in act 4 nightmare I got a grizzly(1 point) and currently it is much more durable than my level 20 poison creeper. :grrr: This is just to say that it shouldn't be any harder to build one with the carrion wind ring.
The lack of attack rating was a problem occasionally, but adding steel, sharp and fine charms corrected the problem mostly.
Hope this helpes. :p
