View Full Version : Jewel colours? Do they matter?
While browsing through the trading rooms today, I caught someone making a post asking for jewels (Godknows what, i'm still lost as far as most of the abrev's go) and he said that he wanted green/red/whatever else, but no blue. So I was wondering if the colour of the jewel matters to anything at all, or are people just weird and only want specific coloured jewels?

Mainly people are weird. Other explanation is that certain combinations of modifiers and colors are more duped than others and people want the less dupes ones obviously.

Blue 40/15ias = Duped. 99% of them are blue, so other colours are generally worth more.
Most 40/15s of any color are dupes.

Even my flaming pink jewel of jewelness? 16-24 fire damage, +1 to jewels?

wtf is plus one to jewels?!?!?!?
I think the "+1" attribute means "+1 to all skills".
Color of jewels matters a lot to me. I would never use a yellow jewel in an SS, or a red jewel in a Valor. I like things to be colorful, and not all the same color. It stings my eyes whenever I see a jewel of around the same color as the item itself.

I would never complain about the color of a jewel if it did exactly what I needed it to do :)

I actually have a self found 40/15 rare jewel. No one believes its not a dupe.

Rare jewels can't spawn with 40%ed, 30%ed is max on them so you must mean a magical one yes?

Oh, I just get old and tired to put it short. Time for new generation.

So I guess you also have a coconut-head sorc, a coconut-head hammerdin and a coconut-head wind druid, right ?
Just joking, my characters look like that as well. :uhhuh:

There is no easy answer to this, because there is no "one-size fits all" best jewel. A legit jewel with 40% ED and IAS on it would be worthless if used on most sorcs or necros, but would be great for a melee character. Generally speaking, look for jewels with multiple modifiers. Some of the more sought after jewel modifiers are 35+% ED, IAS, -reqs, 13-15% resist all, +min/max dmg. I would suggest taking a look at your character(s), determine what weaknesses you want to address, and then look for jewels to correct those weaknesses.
