39 Barb , Beta build

After Careful planning, I've decided to indeed a "lame" dueler and build a BO barb to complement my soon to be re-built 39 zerker.

His build is as follows.

Str : (base) 110
Dext : (base)105

190 1handed Sword (40% ias)
IK gaunts + Boots
Angelics
Soe
Guilmes face +15 max
Eld'ed Lance guard
ShaftStop (15% ias)

HeadStriker (shealed) *
+45 max +3 zerk helm *
4 thul armour for cold sorcs**


*= For when his sword eventually gets to 1 dur and I upgrade it and put it on a barb merc

My DS comes to a total of : 35% + Mastery (18%) for the 1st set up

59% (hs) + 20% (lance guard) +Mastery (18%) for about 90% DS...pretty much every hit.

My charms are basically going to be 5 +10 max's with small 5 RW charms. The rest will be small vita's or susts depending what I can find.


I decided to go to LanceGuard's investment in dext because I will have more than enough life. 8k+ ar is probably what I'm going to be hitting so I wouldn't imagine there being anything I can't sink my blade into at that level.


Input? I know the shaft is some what cowardly combined with the advanced bo but lets face it, when confronted with the fact that I'm most likely going up against mainly MH chickenhackers and the rest I'm clearly the lesser of the two evils. I wouldn't mind throwing on a +60 max armour tho...

well if i were to duel you (if id ever finish my char) i wouldnt like you having 8k life and i only got like 2-3k, since you got 2comps?

since when do you need to defend the use of a shaft? I mean, its not my preferred chocie of gear, but I always thought that DR was for wussies anyway ;).

The build looks fine, I'm sure that you'll use what you have at an optimum. The only thing I can think of is Maoim Oak Ammy coupled with some nice rares with AR. The 30 extra vit (basically) and the 10% res all and 10% AR might outweigh the benefits of Angelics. 30 vit =120 life on a barbie and angelics offers 115 life and 10 vit (yadda, its dex so vit) so thats 155 life so you'll need some NICE rares to compensate. I had a +9 str/5 dex ring and a +7 str/7 dex ring on my hooker :)

Dude, definitely not cowardly. Any means other than hacking to kill a chickener is fair game imo. Do you actually have that 45/3zerk helm? Coz that's very nice. Try and get a 45max + Life armor to have as backup to shaft. You can wear shaft first and if they do crappy damage switch armors and kill them. I guess it's hard to tell if they get a good roll though. When the sword runs out and you switch to HS wouldn't it be better to get a better block shield? I guess you would have already placed points in dex to get 75% with Lance Guard. It's just I see lance as being quite a sacrifice to life if you already have other sources of DS. Also have you worked out Ias break points for both swords? I guess it'll take a while for the frst to break though. All in all looks like a well thought out and somewhat uncommon build (for that level anyway).

quite honestly, i think that weapon is outclassed by an ethereal honor naga, but opinions aside, good luck with that zerker... may the cold sorc's be struck down by your vengeance!

I was under the impression that the Critical Strike from Mastery does not stack with the Deadly Strike from Equipment. Like it rolls for Deadly, then Critical if Deadly didn't roll.

Or maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah you're right. They don't stack directly but they do stack. For example if you had 40% DS and 20% Critical you'd end up with something like 50% chance to do double damage. There's a formula for it somewhere, probably in the barb forums.

edit: and you can't do 4x Damage which is probably what you were getting at.

having a Bo barb is not BM.. in 1.09 i made a barb like this:
20 Zerk
20 WW
20 Sword Mastery
20 Iron Skin

and then i made a barb with 49 BO, 48 Shout, 48 Battle Command

People would complain when i bo'd myself but then when they were thru *****ing i kindly offered them Bo (assuming they're a barb) or sometimes i gave them Bo from my bo barb and then didn't use BO myself to even the tables. Just offer them BO also and they'll usually be quiet, if they're still *****ing just go without BO and try to kill them.. it usually works

Nub ^^. With slow patched (somewhat) it goes under my radar a bit. A necissary evil for my 31+ wolves but generally avoided anyway.



Times changed. I don't play 12 hours a day like I used to (thank god), I don't have uber rich friends to hand me my 3/20/20's and I don't bot all night to ensure I have an unlimited supply of dueling gear. Think of it as adapting, seeing as I know damn well that I can't take on a fully geared to perfection chick hacking headstriker charger that knows what they're doing. They will simply murder me.


If they whine about the BO I will gladly offer them bo. Think of it as a chicken hack alternative^^
