Hi guys.

After an extensive read of your forum, I've come to the conclusion that it's best that you have an OT where you can express yourselves (as you used to), without need to create other OT threads outside the Druid world on this forum.

Anyway, I've seen that due to lack of judgement on what to post by some members, Garbad had cut out the OT thread on the Druid Forum. What I propose is, let's give it another last try.

By having this thread, what I propose to you people is to commit not to do OTHER OT threads on this forum, leaving this thread to your OT posts. Also, other guidelines should be followed:

No profanity; no swearing, no going around the word filter, no usage of words that turn into stars -> *******
OT doesn't mean spam, so no spamming
No discussion of using hacks and illegal software of any kind. That includes also Kazaa and other downloading programs
All forum rules (http://www.rpgforums.net/rules) apply

You may ask yourselves why I am doing this, since I am no Druid mod, and no druid player at all. The reason is, I'd like to have the rights of the Druid forum kept. You've earned a long time ago the right to have your own OT and you have the will to use it, so that's why I'm creating this. The other option was just to cut out any OT until another Druid mod filled the place.

The European Trade Forum is a busy one, but in case you need something urgent done here, I can help if a PM is sent to me.

Garbad, if you need/wish something done that was reported to you, feel free to forward it to me.

Should this thread degrade into something that shouldn't be shown in these forums, it will be (much to my sorrow and probably to the Druids sorrow too) deleted, and then there will be no OT thread anymore. Furthermore, any attempt to make OT threads on the Druid forum outside this thread will be deleted, so take care of this one :)

I hope you guys will see me as a helper and not as a chastenizer; that is not my intention.

If this is going to be the OT thread to end all (other) OT threads then we need a better title.

I've just used the name by which the OT thread seemed to be known around here.

Edit: I've added this: (use this thread if you're going to make an OT post), I hope that this makes it clearer for the non-initiated

Hi Ash :howdy:

Well I had trouble finding this thread too, who would have thought a OT thread in the druid forum needs stickying. :surprise:

I think the first of the guidelines might discourage some people from posting in a relaxed manner, I at least will have to watch my spelling extra carefully from now on when posting here.
*sigh*
It already takes me ages to make a post, I guess this won't improve my speed for the better... :creep:

I was told by Garbad that some traditions exist on the Druid OT thread, as follows:

- The thread goes up to 1000 posts and gets deleted;
- The thread is not stickied;
- The thread doesn't have a fix name, but its name is decided by the forum regulars when the number of posts is near 1000, and one of the forum regulars makes the next.

About this I have the following to say:

1) I would prefer it to be myself creating the threads (while I am helping here, it may be a long time) since it's important to have the guidelines on the first post, but if someone has anything against me creating the threads please tell me a good reason why not - we may find another solution.

2) Do you guys really prefer an unstickied thread for the OT? If you do, I'll unsticky it, adding the [OT] in the beginning of the name.

3) The thread will continue to go to 1000 posts and be then locked and deleted, and if someone chooses another name for it before it ends, I'll use whatever name is chosen.

I'll be waiting for your input on this ;)

Sounds more or less right it was locked at 1000 give or take a few but not deleted we usually let it fall into the abyss but leave it there to refer to....often in the first post of the new thread we link to the old one.

With the true art of OT, just a place needs to be furnished. The lavishness of thread titles, stickied or unstuck, and the likes should not really matter to a true wordsmith.

Then again, this is the druid forums and many couldn't function if there worlds were shattered.

Unless the thread turns into a spamfest (some people think that OT threads are made to spam), there's nothing against locking it and pointing to it on the new thread. So, if no spam, no delete.

Ok, if you don't mind then I'll make the first thread. I never actually made one -_-

Generally the old OT threads had a rule post and introduction, I will include your intro and some more verbatim. If you want more, just let me know or edit it on your own.

Yup, what is most important is to let the first post include the guidelines. I'll leave it then to you guys to create the next one, when this one hits 1000.

BTW, you now posted in a druid OT thread, therefor you must continue till it is shut... and at proper 1000 too!

What could you suffer if you dont?

Well just ask Naliworld :uhhuh: and you will have herione like withdrawels too...

Ok, I just made a new OT thread. I suggest you kill off this thread and all the other weak threads like the stop it thread and all.

Whoa, hypoticated by the green...

Anyways, good stuff to get this regulated and all, and it seems like this could work out. I also advocate non-stickyness, lock-and-drop at 1000 (not delete), and a proper intro/rules post at the beginning of every thread.

Thanks for stopping by, frygia! You are now an honorary Druid, and will be remembered for some length of time, whether short or long I cannot say. Cheers!

This thread will be locked and the other one will continue then. I'll just add the 2nd post I did on the new thread and let it go.
