Now...I've got a fairly perfect set up...at least as ladder goes. I've looked over it and I can't see much that I can improve but I thought you guys might notice something.
Gear is like...
39 HoTO (keeping instead of 40 because I'm sure it's legit since it survived first rust storm)
Enigma Mage...5% sup
SS with -15 req, 17 fire resist 9 dex jewel
Um Shako
+2 druid, 9 fcr, 18 str, 10 dex, 18 fire resist w/minor mana mods craft ammy.
Arach/Trang's Gloves
14/13 Eth Sands (maybe go for x/15, since I don't need the 1 str too much)
10FCR, 8 str, 8 dex, 24/8/8/12 resist rare ring, and a BK.
+6 CTA and Lidless on switch
Charms-
18/18 Anni
9x 20 life SC, some with resist mods.
39/38/37/35/35/34 4xfhr eles.

Unless you find better charms or rares/crafts, that looks pretty darn ideal to me.
20/20 anni would be nice. Give you like, 10 whole more life.
I got a 19/19/10 on ladder I could probably sell to ya if you want a better one bad enough.
I like a shael in shako because I never seemed to need any resistances but fire, and throwing on hotspurs more than took care of that. 75 res won't even come close to stoping a good fire sorc so you might as well just use the spurs for them(unless you Like dying in 2 hits). With the extra 20fhr you could throw out 1 or 2 fhr charms and use 40 lifers(4 ists plz).
Please tell me you sold your mage for this gear :). Makin me feel so poor since I can't play and get richer(*goes into diablo withdrawal*). I think I have 39/30/20/20/20/3 fhr and the others are nice scs and no enigma
Not sure if I even want to bother getting richer on ladder because it seems such a waste. Very few people will even have the slightest chance against you on ladder(due to gear), so whats the point in having perfect stuff? If I was beating pretty much every single non-trapper char(bastards) I came across with mediocre charms, you won't have much of a challenge at all using good ones. On the other hand, dueling 7v1 and winning is kind of fun :)
Remember, your fc ring can always get better. No mana is eww. I don't like having to run to akara because my mana ran out too fast and carrying pots around is a pain. How much do you have total with bo?
I like the shield jewel. If it had 7fhr and 30 fire res it would be perfect.
Go kill some necros for me. I got at least 3-4 days before the phoneline in my new place is put in(go dialup). :(

Go try dueling with your windy. Nothing I found could beat me consistantly except my friend's light sorc(I think having cable would make a huge diff though) and the occasional trapsin. Even the ww sins using wof couldn't win best of 5 for some reason. Maybe they just sucked I dunno. I don't think I'm even using my third one at the moment but like I said, won't be on for a while.
By the way, change your freakin avatar, its giving me nightmares.

I'd also grab a frost just because sometimes you have to run in duels, and being frozen is annoying.
Get 40+ charms.
I assume your belt is mesh? Consider getting a higher FCR amulet and going 19-20% FCR ammy, 20% belt, gloves, 50% Wiz/Suicide Branch, (depending on the duel), 10% FCR ring and using bloodfists and throwing out some of those FHR GC's for more life GC's, especially if you use mana pots and don't have to worry about mana regen.
I like wiz spike because of the resists, fcr, fhr, and you can stick a nice jewel in it. I'm sure you know the pros and cons when compared to HoTO. At the level of damage you'll be doing those 3 skills won't make a difference most of the time.
Edit: There's always room for improvement on any build, I've never seen a perfect character (except maybe a few zealots in 1.09 with their 40 3/20/20's and perfect swords, perfect armors, etc.)
ive never seen one perfect zeal in 09 meph. a saw a zealot with an ethereal ccsoq with 2 40/15 1 zod but it was only 280ed. you call that perfect? its dmg was only like 430ish omfg. :laughs:

Catching them is most of the battle(except against chars you have to play defensive). Once you are on top spamming nados its basically over, and another 600(50-100 after pvp and dr) damage or so won't help all that much. You can take out 3 of your ele gcs and still duel exactly the same as without them(provided you fill in the gaps with life charms). This is why wizspike can be a great option for most builds over hoto(best necros I've ever dueled have used wiz). I think hoto is slightly better for a windy because you really don't need the res although the fhr is interesting.

ya windies using hotos (like mine) has bad mana problems. im starting to lean toward wiz myself even with my mage just because. windies have to learn that they are not immune to elementals. so after that armor dissappears its good to be secured with max resist.
A good fb or lightning sorc is the fastest way to kill a crappy windy. 2 shots dead.
The only reason I never need mana pots is because I use fc rings with huge mana boosts and other nice mods. I hit 950ish with bo and regen enough to keep going at a moderate speed long after mana has hit 0.

best wind killer is a fire trapper lol.. nothing like stun locking a windy and watching him try to get out for the next 1 minute till his armor dissapears
haha. I dueled one once using hotspurs. I managed to win about 50% just by running(crazy desynch sometimes) out of the traps and spaming back. Teleporting against a fast mindblast is pointless.

In my experience when dueling in pubs it usually means fighting many at once without always breaking for town...and since you don't have the warmth of a sorc or enough regen to keep up a globe you're going to need to pot or take a trip to town at some point. Even with 2 sojs on windy I had to mana pot or go to akara occasionally last ladder. Therefore I think I'll go BK.
Getting a raven is NP.
No funds, and I doubt there are too many 40+ on ladder, especially for sale.
I need the STR on fcr ammy for Mage Plate w/base.

I agree wizzy is nice, but for a char who is willing to put on max resist or some absorb vs a hard match (I think it's perfectly fair vs. fire sorcs for example..why should they be allowed to 2 hit me? same for trappers who are fine with perpetually stunlocking me) it helps close the gap between wiz/hoto since I won't need as much resist. :P

Sure you can. Just trade all you ladder gear for nl high runes. :)
Don't you have your old ladder stuff still? The only expensive things are charms, and you probably could afford them if you traded some ladder ists down for nl runes(ladder um=nl high rune according to trade forums).

I wonder what would happen if blizz completely erased everything on ladder and nonladder(gear, charms, gold, chars, Everything). Would a lot of people commit suicide ya think?

Understandable, but often pubs I'll find myself versus like a paladin, sin, and assassin all at one time, and having those extra resist items comes in handy at that point.
With mage I barely have enough str for ss..I'm like 5~ str over 133. Going BP wouldn't help because I need the str from ammy for SS anyway.
Yup, my resists are pretty crap. Cold is only max which is the least needed, lol.

Already 89. -.- I plan on 90 tommorow..not sure about past that.
I managed to get to 92 without too many runs. After that its just painful though(you start counting how many million you gained instead of looking at the bar).

Rich people make me sad. I've been magic finding constantly since the ladder began and I have maybe 4% of what he's wearing. :(
