View Full Version : OT: The Pit Re-Dug

proudfoot

It's been much too long since anyone had a serious fear of The Pit of Strid Sexing. I suggest a stickied, locked thread where we get Garbad to post the names of people for the Druid forum to universally do an Ignore on when they get Pitted. Ok, so it won't work, but it would be kind of fun anyways.

Anyhow, as stated by some other person, the Druid forum without OT is like Garbad without his Ban Stick: nearly impotent.

Actually, I think they said something else, but once Strid told me:
hey Proud, teh Phat Bunny r0x!!!!!!11

Edit: And no more off-topic. Tim, you've made it clear to me several times that you don't care about the druid forum in the slightest. You're the last person who should be here preaching about what's for the best of the forum. How would you know? You're rarely here and you *don't* care.

Here's my guess...

Compare the druid forum to other forums. This forum is given a lot of leniency in dealing with a lot of things, and that's because of who the mod was. We still need a mod for when things need to get done (which is why we originally wanted a mod in the first place, just to sticky things and close threads we needed closed), but we don't need a police mod, that could be left to the admin. Garbad was expected to be a real mod, not just someone to sticky threads, updates stuff, and close threads that the forum believes need to be closed, which is why he was demodded. He wasn't really acting as an enforcer, just as a person to keep information updated, the correct threads stickied, and the correct threads locked.

I doubt that's it somehow.

Well that has been the atmosphere ever since the last official ot thread was locked... I can't see Garbads leaving as an encouragment to stay, just the opposite and if a new moderator is appointed I doubt rules will remain as relaxed as they have been. This actually looks like the end of Druid forum as it is. :hanky:

Don't be a drama queen. I wasn't demodded, I probably won't quit right away, the druid forum will be as great as ever. The druid forum was the best long before I got here and it will remain so long after I leave.

I'll explain more when I get some time, but basically I haven't been moderating this forum for a while. For some strange reason I am not getting reports (my diabloii.net email has been down) and I have been busy so I asked Xircon to watch the forum anyhow.

Let's return to the basics. OT for actual OT sake, not trying to get to the next thread or setting records. All of us take a step back and realize this is supposed to be a friendly place... Newbs come for answers, Vets teach their knowledge, and we have a community that is shared.

Stop the bickering.

Oh and us Necros dont condone actual necrophylia... well all except for that one case of the Necrophyliac Homosexual Duck,... that was a hoot!

IIRC, it was you that suggested/pointed it out. It was sometime in the 5th or so thread title and all the old names were pointed out and that each old name had "7 threads each." Then you were like "Well what are we going to do on the 7th thread," and pointed out that they ended so it should too.

It would be one thing if anything productive ever occured during one of those threads, but all it seems to be filled with is useless banter of "*omg kills [name]*," "Why is it so slow today?," and everyones favorite "spam." I complained for a bit, but I just gave up and stopped caring all together. If the people upstairs say no more off-topic crap, then obey it and shut the hell up. If they people upsairs say continue on as you will, then do what ever you want, I can ignore them if it comes down to it.

I've never known anyone to spontaneously gain common sense/maturity when they reach 18 or even 30. Age and intelligence are not directly related.

Edit: Well, I can't play d2 and I can't sleep and calling a friend at 1am would probably piss them off. As long as my post count stays under Ash's I'll consider myself sane. :)
