maxed block doesnt help against casters, but saves u from combat chars. u wont get hit a lot but if u do ull die very quickly.
energy shield makes every hit feel like a scratch, but u end up defenseless if u run outta mana, and ull get hit a lot too. it also requires a lotta skill pts to make it useful.
so whats the better path?

I agree. Get Both. It's possible to have 75% block along with 95% ES and 3000 mana to support it if you have the right gear.
Definitely both.
When you have only one of either, it cripples you against a whole range of characters, not a good thing.

I suggest you go for both ES and blocking XD cause once you done it you will fall in love with it~ and that is what i did on my sorc XD
If you must choose one, I'd say blocking just because it's easier and gives you points for synergies (which you need, unless you're going to be a FOrb sorc, one of the very few options you have as a ES PvP Sorc)

im making a blizz sorc right now. it would be impossible to make eshield effective since i have to max so many synergies. any tips?

I really do not see the point in getting block with a sorceress at all. What physical damage could ever hit you?

All kinds of damage, especially if the opponent uses an enigma. They teleport on top of you and attack you. Even harder to shake off are guided arrows.

You'll probably want to go for block only (or none at all). If you want ES and block, go for FOrb, its synergy, and CM.
