Never really thought about it
but the SS has a 67% blocking chance for a sorc.
so how can we get 75% max block?
i guess i should look at the blocking calculation in general but I was just wondering, if we keep adding dex it can go over 67%?

I would like to know the answer to this one too. :scratch:
The shield chance to block is fed into a formula (along with your dexterity and character level) that determines your character's actual chance to block. Yes, increasing dexterity will increase the actual chance to block up to 75%.
Chance to Block: Total Blocking = [(Blocking * (Dexterity - 15)) / (Character Level * 2)]
Dex for Max (75%) Block: Dexterity = {150*Character Level/Blocking + 15}
Blocking = A total of the Blocking on all of your items. (E.g: Guardian Angel, Twitchthroe, Any Shield, Holy Shield)
[] = Round Down
{} = Round Up

With the formula from Frisco you can see, that the chance to block displayed on the shield makes it easier for the char to reach max block at 75%, since it is part of the equation.
The higher the displayed chance to block on the Shield is, the less Dexterity you will need to reach max-block!

any way~~ if your sorc is at level 90~~ then you need 217 dex in order to have 75% blocking.
If you're still concerned, you can socket the SS with an Eld Rune to increase your blocking chance.

A Hel or Freedom Jewel is more effective at saving stat points unless your sorc's other equipment leaves her with 137+ST before considering the shield.
