ok i have recently started playing diablo again after a few years off(i got diablo2 when it came out and stopped shortly after lod release). well now im back and i am utterly confused by the lingo and many of the things that have to do with the game so i figured i would ask.

what is diablo clone? i hear about this guy but have no idea who or what it is.

what are 290s? everytime i go into the trader channel on bnet people are wanting 290s

same for 40/15s, i think thats what they are called, what are these?

also i find myself getting ripped off in a lot of trades, is there a place to find out trade value of items/runes. i traded trangs gloves/shield for a ik belt, which i later found out was a rediculously stupid trade, yet there was no way for me to know this at the time.

thanks guys, i know my questions may have been asked somewhere else, but i searched and found a million topics about each thing, but all by people who were talking about these things to other people who already knew what they were and didnt need to explain.

1. diablo clone is a souped up version of diablo that can be found wandering around occasionally and after he is eventually killed he drops an annihulus charm.
2. 290 are small charms that do 290 psn damage IIRC
3.40/15 refers to a jewel with 40%ed and 15%ias

as for getting ripped off in trades. prices are based on how badly you want an item and what the seller wants. so just be sensible ok:teeth:

Don't accept every trade, don't accept the first offer.

I was trying to figure out trade values the other day, and was talking to a rune trader.

He offered me Lem for my (only) Stormshield. I figure that is a huge ripoff(!).

I wonder what I would be asked for if I tried to trade runes to get a Stormshield? Probably they would ask for zod.

If I want to know the fair value I'd compare the prices people are asking to sell, and the prices they're willing to buy. In the middle somewhere is the fair value.

It differs from person to person, I might offer one guy a Stormshield and get spat on, but that same person might be willing to give up an Ist for a Lycanders bow (not-upgraded, off ladder). Now if I remember correctly, an Ist should be worth a heck of a lot more than a Lem, so what gives? Maybe he just really really wanted a Lycanders? Maybe he thought it was upgraded?

(I'm just guessing here) could 290s be Poison damage? And 40/15s be enhanced damage/max damage?

Stormshield was never worth a zod and never will be.

Back in V09, before inflation SS was about 3 sojs or so. after inflation about 10+.

but now in v1.10, maximum DR for PvM and PvP is 50% unlike 95% (PvM) and 75% (PvP) in vv09

because of this, players are finding new combinations to get the maximum DR and also strengthening their skills, resistances, etc..

stormshield is worth probably around one soj. definetly NOT a ZOD.

think about it this way, you have a better chance of getting hit by an airplane that is simultaneously being hit be lightning to find a ZOD.

Toxic Small Charm of Anthrax

two poison modifiers give a total of 290 psn damage.

i remember seeing 343 dmg psn charms in the past...

anyway, 40% Enhanced Damage/15% increase attack speed.

15maximum dmg added on was a nice BvB WW modified, but i dont see many people using those today

now dupe that 1000 times and you still dont have many zods existing on the realms.

So why is everyone using Enigmas, BOTDs and the other stuff?

Think about it this way: with all the botters, dupers and sell-items-for-real-money people, getting ZODs shouldn't be too difficult. More often than not, people are just "getting an enigma", or "use a botd weapon for your merc", so why shouldn't they just be "getting a zod" as well?
