I've been getting frustrated recently over the number of realm downs I have been getting. Can someone tell me what actually triggers the new system?? As I understood it was if you made more than 20 games in an hour that you got the ban but it has been occuring much more sporadically than that.
Does it log your ip or cd key when making games?? I was thinking i could do 15 runs on 1 key then switch to the next key but that would still be less than an hour. Can anyone give me any tips on avoiding getting r/d's?
r/ds occure when constantly create/exit games too fast try to wait a bit befor you create games

Switching CD keys (how do you do that anyway?) won't help you because the r/d is IP specific. There are ways to chance your IP address though like using proxies or disconnecting and reconnecting your DSL/modem. It depends on your ISP though. For example my ISP assigns me with a static IP and it cannot be changed. I wouldn't use proxies because they will lag you. Some people say that best way to get around r/d is to be in games for more than 5 minutes.
I haven't had any trouble with r/d so far. I did a lot of meph runs yesterday and I never got r/d.

No - even if u switch keys... you will still have R/D - I have a dual boot up - if I get R/D on 1 key, I also get R/D on the 2nd
It logs your IP... so unless u have a non-static IP... you can't do ne thing...

RD is tied to your IP but if you get banned from RD too often your CD key will be tagged by blizzard.
So even if you have dynamic IP, it won't help once your key is tagged.
You'll get RD very soon even if you switch to a new ip.
If all you do is eldritch/shenk/pindle or just meph / andy, you will get RD eventually.
Try mf in ancient tunnel / mausoleum after the boss runs, you'll spend a good 15 mins per game and you have a chance of getting TC87 items.
The pit is also an alternative but personally I don't like it because of the immune monsters and archer pack (good luck surviving a might/fana pack)
BTW besides E/S/P, you can also run Thresh Socket who is always alone (easy to kill), but it takes quite a lot of mana to teleport to his location.

How long you're in the game may or may not have an effect, however time spent inbetween games comes in too. IE I made 53 dc hunting games in about an hour, I didn't get banned until I did 15 or so straight as fast as I possibly could (which I did because I was leaving soon, so it didn't matter to me if I was R/D'd or not). I was just alt tabbing every 3-10 runs, reading forums, talking to friends on MSM, etc. I've done streaks of 100 eldritch only runs with no troubles the same way, stopping out of boredom rather than r/d.
Just break up the patterns. When I MF I do Andy and Meph and Pindle but I also stop at Laz and check out his goodies. On my way to Andy if a boss pack crosses my path I may stop and take them out and that has giving me 2 Shakos this season. Occasionally I will hit Fire Eye or hit the Ancient Sewers in Act 2.
Last night I got the longest RD I have ever had and I got it while muling. Started abotu 9:45 and at abotu 10:15 I gave up and went to bed as I normally get off around 10:30-11 anyway, so I have no idea how long it was going to be.
I have yet to get RD MFin and I have uncharacteristically been MFin like a mad man for abotu 3-4 weeks......well at least compared to normal.
I've tried to figure out patterns and how many games of a certain duration will give you r/d, however I can't get it right! I ran meph in 1-2 minutes about 40 times last night without a realm down, but the previous night I got a r/d in 14 runs. A suggestion is to do 4 fast runs and then make sure the 5th lasts 5 minutes plus, but even using that technique you'll still get the occasional r/d.

Dont no only MF at meph or pindle, then you'll get RD because one run is fast made..
Make runs like; Andy, Meph ,Pindle , shernk and eldrich then you wont see much/any RDs..
I also find the non use of Map Hack can help increase your run time and stop the RD's. Dont intend to accuse, or condem for the use of MH, but if you run Meph, andy, pindle or some combo of that in 2-3 mins or less it isnt going to help you avoid RD, and eventually being tagged as a botter or hack user.........if tagged.....well......not sure what the penalty will be but i sure it wont just be a good talkin to, probably some temp ban at least.
It takes me a good amount of time to do my runs, at times I can hit meph, Andy, and Pindle and it take 3 mins or so but most of the time it is considerably longer.

havent gotten r/d, ever, running TEH meff 600+ times. the longest streak was 150 (mouse can attest to this), around 4+ hours, and not a single r/d. might be because i tele slow, but i know im a decent tele'r (albeit not the fastest). games take approx 1.5 minutes each, with only a lvl 25 orb/cm and walking from the docks of a3. that average time includes the game creation.

If you have a cold sorc, Mausoleum + maggot lair + ancient tunnels = ~7 minute runs (I only kill uniques), add meph thats about 8 minutes
OR
Meph + council members before meph + pindle + thresh = ~2.5 minutes

There's obviously no set pattern to getting r/d's. I was figuring if someone could tell me the maximum runs before r/d occurs I could just do that many and then do something else for a while. It really blows though when you get in a good mf rhythm to have it runied by r/d's or being forced to do something else. I would run Ancient Tunnels as well but i'm doing the quest drop on TEH meff :) So it's more efficient for me to just run him. Considering there's no other option I guess i'll do ancient tunnel runs as well as MEFFY. I guess some where between 5~10 mins per game will stop r/ds to some extent. Thanks for the suggestions. (I'm Orb/TK)
Here is my run pattern with my first drop Meph sorc.
All council members and Meph in Durance3. All council members at Travincal. I dont recommend this without a BO barb though. Also skip Bremm if he is conviction (Trav also if anyone there spawns with it, pretty rare there though).
Surprising how much Experience the council members give. My Sorc is level 88 almost 89 and still gets nice exp rates from this run. Gotten alot of nice stuff from the council also. Ist and Um on the rune side (these guys drop runes fairly frequently I might add, but mostly lowers ones) and nice uniques.
Experienced no realm downs doing this also.

Last night I got the longest RD I have ever had and I got it while muling. Started abotu 9:45 and at abotu 10:15 .
I got 3 R/D in a week, 2 while mfing and 1 muling, all 3 lasted exactly an hour. :grrr:
yeah, try doing save//exit in under .5 seconds, like esc-click instantly, r/d guaranteed.
take your time exiting, make a tp to town, id stuff, then press esc, count to two, exit. wait 4 seconds, then make n/g.
inhuman responses get you a r/d, I can mf for hours on end but usually screw myself up while muling cause I act too fast and exit instantly--> r/d

Last week I had 3 rd, all from muling games, and none with anything specially rapid going on and never any hacks. Two of them I lost NICE items, and with at least one of those I had picked up the item and equipt merc with it and it was still gone when I finally could log back on again.
Server side screw up IMHO.

meh. So i guess its not possible to do ONLY pindle runs anymore without realm down (assuming you have static IP).
I just got realm downed for doing pindle too fast. ghey.
