What is the Ultimate Merc weapon for a Summoner?

Sup guys i was wondering bout this cuz i really now jus need to outfit my merc
Currently he is wearing a shaft, gaze ,and Ariocs. But i want to know what weapon i should give.....Also do u think bramble would be good cuz of the thorns aura or would a Eth Archon CoH be better? Ty

I think the top weapon would be beast, if it were allowed on a merc weapon type, but since it's not, for a summoner merc, I think Doom has to be up there as one of the popular choices for top weapons (and probably most expensive). If you're boss-running, upgraded Hone Sundan is sweet if you wanted to combine it with other crushing blow stuff like Guillaume's and Duress, but if it's just by itself, not as good.

Don't discount mid-level items like Crescent Moon. The Static Field and chain lightning can be great.

Well, it really depends on what you are aiming for.

Since everybody here is advocating a weapon that improves your merc's killing power, let me advocate Arioc's Needle in the +4 variant: it boosts the might aura, which boosts the damage of all your warriors.

It's also cheap, but as usual, I seem to be the only one here without Enigma and the other stuff.

Personally, I'm also aiming to get a +2 Arkaine's Valor for my merc some day (found an ethreal on the previous ladder, but on the current one... nothing yet), for the same reason: more might, more warrior damage. I haven't quite worked out all the details; atm I'm still preferring the crown of thieves for the life leech (I haven't socketed my needle yet), and I'm not sure whether a shako would be good for him (if I ever get another one) due to the lack of leech.

As I said: different approach. I like to help my army.

I really dont have the means to obtain a Doom or Tomb Reaver or anything super godly.

personally I view my merc as an aura machine and my skellies do the real damage. (lvl44~)

but i treat my merc as a VALUABLE aura machine so I give him good enough stuff to survive.

i use ethereal bonehew, tals mask, corpsemourn. with no DR he rarely dies. the only times i can think of his dying is when he is Iron Maidened or when he is fighting fana/might/conc etc boss packs.

My guy uses an etheral hone sadaanyari with 3xamn runes. Gaze and etheral shaft. He gets a ton of crushing blows on baal runs (one of my only chars who can solo the game is my summoner). My merc is basicaly there to help start my army and to provide an aura. But the crushin blow he provides on bosses is just awsome. I wear enigma so i just select teleport and cast it on baal, my army is right up on him and he dies pretty fast.
