is the clay golem immune to cold?

i have lvl 22 clay golem, mastery, and summon resist by virtue of gear and charms.

the thing is..

i asked a sorceress to attack my golem.

her ice bolt, glacial spike, blizzard did no damage. at first i thought she wasn't hitting dead on. so i cast blood and fire golems. she destroyed those with ease. but the clay golem took no damage..

when using static field the golem lost health and when attacked by melee the golem lost health.

but not by cold attacks.

is this a bug? a feature?

Hover the unsummon skill over Clay. It will show if he is Cold Immune or not. The immunities are an intended feature.

i tried nope it did not say Cold Immune.

but the golem did not take any damage whatsoever. i tested again.

i had an orb sorceress come in.

orb after orb after orb no damage.

cast blizzard and summoned a blood golem, it died. cast clay golem in the exact spot, no damage.

fireball and chain lightning destroyed it.


so no damage from cold.

Having been along time fan of Clay (though I have never tried anyting like that) I do think there are inherent resistances that it has that aren't talked (mentioned) about. It seems to take all elemental damage (even without summon resists) better than the other golemns. But that is just from my experiences, no hard evedence.

But then again if you think about it put a block of clay in the freezer, hummm still clay, fire would just make it tougher and it'd be immune to electriicity as well. posion, well it would hold it but you never hear about dirt being harmed by posion, just that which lives in it.

Yes, the clay golem is specially resistant to cold damage. The things that affect its resistance are points in Clay Golem and points in Summon Resist and plus skills to summoning.


I played around with a skill calculator and found the following:

If you put 1 point in Clay Golem and 1 point in Summon Resist.

Now add + skills
+Skills Cold Resist
0 .....78%
1 .....85%
2 .....90%
3 .....94%
4 .....97%
5 .....100%
6 .....102%

So in conclusion, it is easy to make your Gumby Cold Immune.
