I'm looking to build a ladder pvp char but I can't afford an enigma. What do you all thing would be the best build considering I have these items:

Melee Items:
Stormshield
Arreats
Death Cleaver/Razoredge
Duress
Lionheart
Angelic Ammy/Rings
Gore Riders
Draculs
Ravenfrosts
Demonlimb

Caster Items:
Lidless
Eschutas
WizSpike
Vipermagi
Frosties/Magefist
1 soj
Waterwalks
Tals Ammy
Shako
Occulus

Charms:
Couple vita large charms
2 grand r/w charms
Couple small vita charms

I've built a barb using the melee gear but without good r/w charms I can't keep up with good tele casters.

What dueler can I make using the items I listed that would be best? I can't get anymore items or charms - but I can try and cube charms. So far I've come up with either orb sorc or vigor+charge+hammerdin. Any help would be great.

EDIT:
Forgot to add, but I have these belts too:
Arachnid Mesh
String of Ears
Tgods belt
Various Crafted Caster belts

Good Casters are expensive, your caster gear looks pretty generic..Your melee gear is solid though...I would recomend a ww ax baba.

I've already made a ww axe barb with my gear, but I'm getting killed by good necs (decrep and i lose), hammerdins, foh din (yeah i can stack resist but i cant catch them either), good sorcs, trappers (BoS means I cant catch em)...thats why I asked for advice. However, if the barb is the best I can do with all this gear...then I'll just have to admit that I can't do any better making a pvp char.

I'd suggest making a sorceress. Built in teleport.

your gear isn't top of the line, but if you've got some skill, you can do well.

For now, build a frozen orb sorceress. Try and get some cold skill charms, but build her around these items

Oculus - Hopefully a Death's Fathom later. Keep MFing! Keep the wiz spike in the stash
Vipermagi - 15% cold/warmth ormus later hopefully. Anything with a good % cold is nice though. Once you get your ormus, viper goes in the stash for resists
Stormshield - Most people don't suggest this... but I like keeping it around. Put a -% req/resist jewel in it if you can get one. It's a really slick shield. The strength req is a bit high, 133 with the jewel, but it's not a huge sacrafice I don't think.
Shako - Nightwings later, but the shako is a very good helm period. If you don't like nightwings, you can still do very well with a shako.
1x SoJs - A given.
1x 10% fcr ring with other good mods. - Preferably mana, this will help you hit the 110% fcr breakpoint.
Magefists - I prefer Trangs Gloves for the resists, but magies work well.
Arachnid's - A given.
Tal's Ammy is a pretty good amulet for a sorceress. If you can get one though, a crafted +2 sorc/20% fcr amulet would be better, so you can drop the magefists/trangs for frostburns, and more mana. If not, Mara's is always a good alternative.

As for your charms, go for 10x cold skillers. I know you're not going to just go out and find them, but this is something to aim for. Your small charms should be mostly mana/life or resists/life, depending on what you lack more of.

For your build, max frozen orb, it's synergy, cold mastery, telekenesis, and energy shield. This will make you fairly tough, if you have enough mana..

My friend's pvp orb sorc when finished looked something like this: 1200 life, with 3200 mana. Now you won't get -that- high on ladder, but again, it's something for you to aim for.

Hope it helps!

The budget builds are basically the ones that don't require expensive runewords to work well. Without that initial startup cost you can start dueling right away and upgrade over time as you find more stuff. Enigma is the most popular of those runewords. Start by taking a look at builds that do not require enigma in order to be effective. Here's a partial list:

Any PvP sorc
Lightning Trapper
Most pally builds (use charge)
Snipe and run with a GA build.

Thanks for the help - I've decided on making an orb sorc.

Any tips on playing with a modem (I usually have dsl, but for a couple weeks I'll be on modem) while dueling with a sorc? I remember andychrono used to have a 56k sorc guide.

you could try a charge-vigor hammerdin, they are cheap, and very good.

I've actually scrapped my orb sorc items for a charge-vigor hammerdin already =P Just hit 70 last night and getting used to him in pvp. Any strat guides out there for a pvp hammerdin?
