"A story by Myrakh" :-)

Just now, this was a terrible fight vs. the diablo clone.

It started as always --- I cleared the way from stony fields wp to the tristam portal where I like to spawn DC. It was a long way, though :-(

After spawning DC and taking off a few hp, I went to get my revives. Except... I didn't find any. No Urdar. No Maulers. No Blunderbones. I finally found some Thorned Hulks, but they were far from the waypoint... so I decided to TP out and walk the way to DC. Bad idea... when I arrived, I had to revives left.

So I went back to A3 and tried another direction from the waypont. And pretty close. I found a few more thorned hulks, but when I arrived at the waypoint they were gone.

So, direction #3. Nothing.

Direction #4... finally, a few more hulks. I carefully led them back to the waypoint --- it took ages, but out of my pack of 6, 2 arrived with me at the waypoint. They could at least take off some hitpoints from DC before they died. They could have taken more HPs off him, probably, but they mostly wandered around enjoying the scenerey.

I SO HATE BLIZZARD AND THEIR F* STUPID IDEAS. I decided to change strategy and use skellies only --- they vanish as well, but not as much, and I could get them from anywhere, so I could just stay near waypoints. I've always hated the random skeleton vanishing misfeature when running through an empty map because I took the wrong way, arriving with half my army gone. Or the merc just standing somewhere, not moving, not doing anything. But the revives really top it off...

I'll be adapting my strategy, of course --- until today, I took the mule out of the game. Starting with the next clone, I'll take the mule out to spawn the clone, then bring him back in to open a "permanent" TP in tristam... so I can TP back to town after getting revives. Or I'll spawn him on Eldritch... if I take him closer to the waypoint, there shouldn't be too much distraction either.

enigma can solve the problem, but if you cant afford it, use charges to tele...

tele brings your army on top of you again, which keeps them from getting lost;)

Hm... a teleport staff... so far I've always avoided them, as I loose about half my gear and +skills when using one, which is extremely bad. But since I only need it to get the revives back to the WP... sounds like an acceptable option as well.

how about a teleport amulet, you'll only lose like 2 skill levels when you put that on, it's better than losing all the bonuses from wand and totem

tele staff on switch would work...just switch, tele, switch back

though repair costs go wayyyy up

When I tried using skeletons, they'd whack a few hp off, but while I was off getting a new bunch (even if I had piles of corpses pre prepped) the DC would heal back all its damage!

So frustrating!

Without crushing blow from revives, how will you kill him in one sitting, and if not in one sitting, how will you stop him from healing it all back while you are gone????

PMH - on a merc weapon or on switch would be good. It doesn't totally stop clone from regen as it last around 30-40 secs before he starts healing again.

When I tried that the result I thought that I was seeing was that only the mercs damage was effected by PMH.

Paying to keep ressing the merc made me poor, so I gave up on that.

are you sure there were no crushing blow monsters?

did you check Harem level 2, palace cellar 1-3?
did you check tal rashas tombs?

did you check the Great Marsh, Kurast places, and Travincal (for thorned hulks and their like)

did you check the Durance of Hate level 1 and 2?
did you check the river of flame in its entirety?

did you check the Bloody foothills?

everygame has the Gorebelly (mauler, urdar subclass) enemy, you just have to know where to find them.

and how exactly did you spawn uberdiablo? i waited on a hot server for a day and no luck.

i thought PMH doesnt work on mercs.

and also, paying for your merc is making you poor?

on hell baal runs or the like, pick up all of the white or blue elite items and sell them for 35K unidentified. you get lots of gold. if i see a white corona or armet, i pick it up and get 35K

Pmh won't work on mercs, but don't forget that open wounds does ;)
