View Full Version : Sacrificer weapon?
I'm making a palladin with sacrifice and it's synergies (fant and redemption) maxed. Also getting vengence for back up. I don't have too much of value, so I was thinking possibly IK maul, but are there any other high(er) damage weapons that are good?
I think you'd want a 1-handed weapon. Considering you'll be damaging yourself a lot, I doubt that you'd want no shield for blocking, or the lack of the ability enhance your defense with Holy Shield...
Well, I'd have 8+ life leach. I'm making this build to take on singular or small groups of enemies, although I think I'd do alright against slightly larger groups also (I hate magots). Defence doesn't matter if you kill the enemies before they have a chance to attack, hence the higher damage 2 handed weapon choise :)

That's a good question. You don't want that 8% damage being reflected back at you from a massive damage weapon, but you want to do lots of damage. What a paradox. You might want to give something like an ethereal Nord's or an Azurewrath a try, since they have good elemental damage and relatively low physical. Another question: Does anyone know if damage reduction works on the 8% damage from sacrifice?
It did in 1.09. In 1.09 when you had 75% DR and you were in normal , you only had to use 2% LL in order to get no dmg returned to you. Assuming you leeched a total of 2% of the dmg you did back ofcourse , otherwise you would take dmg (the over dmg thing with martyrs).
Now in 1.1 you have quite some leech penalties in nm and hell , which means you need alot more LL in order to cancel it out. and AFAIK %DR still works. Except it's capped @ 50% now. and IIRC leech is 1/4 in hell now , which means you need a total of 16% LL and 50% DR in 1.1 in order to cancel the 8% dmg return off. Or 32% LL and zero %DR ofcourse. :D

Make sure you scale your life leach accordingly, You will need to plan on the 1/2 and 1/4 LL penalties in Nightmare/Hell. Not every monster is leechable, so you will need secondary attack (Zeal) that DOESNT do damage to yourself, hehe. I've played this and have used Spire of Honor (no LL and is slow) through most of Nightmare. About defense doesnt matter, think again. Try this, Act 5 Nightmare Bloody Foothills with Quill Rats and Undead Archers. They mowed me down in seconds flat with 25% PDR. Get yourself a viable 1hd weapon/shield switch trust me.
Stoutwood seams to be be sleep posting, because ~1000% ed (higher with might merc) doesn't effect elemental damage and the whole point of this build is to do huge phisical damage. I did forget about the leach penalties, but I can have 26%ll and drinking a red potion can probably make up for the rest. This build isn't ment to take on 10+ enemies at a time, so if I have to go through a high traffic area, I'll put on vigor and run through. Not like I can afford arkain's valor any way, so why worry about not having super high defence?
If you can't normally ll from a monster than cast lifetap on it. 50% ll ain't all that bad.
