Ok im debating on whether or not to make an all out orb sorc or to make a bliz sorc. This would be my build:

20 Orb
20 Ice Bolt
20 Cold mastery
10 Warmth
10 Armor(Which one would be best)
5 Tele(to keep mana costs down)
5 Energy Shield

My Gear would be:
Helm-Shako(P Topaz'd)
Ammy-Rare with +2 cold skills
Armor-Skulders(P Topaz'd)
Weapon-Deaths Fathom(Ist)
Shield-Lidless(P Topaz'd)
Gloves-Chance
Belt-Goldwrap
Boots-Travs
Rings-Nagel

If you have any suggestions it would be well appreciated. My friend said that his didn't work. Just let me know and any critques you have would great. Thnx

P.S This would obviously be an orb sorc build, if i used bliz i would use one of the guides.

The synergy that orb gains from Ice bolt is a mere 2% per level. Ice bolt doesn't give me nearly enough to put more than the prereq in.

You really only need a single point in Frozen Armor as your defense will never be high enough to really gain enough extra defense from more points in this skill. Frozen armor does give the very nice mod of "freezes on attack" ie: monsters that attack you (not hit) are frozen.

1 point in warmth is enough. Frozen Orb and Blizzard are delay spells and the +skills from the gear you list is more than enough if you put a single point into warmth.

A single point into static field is very beneficial.

Energy shield should really be an all or nothing type spell. None or max ES and Max TK for more info check this thread:

If you really want to go with Orb you would do better to Build a FO/CL sorc or a Meteorb. If you want pure cold a Blizz sorc is the way to go.

One option I'm considering is FO/Blizz. Mainly because FO is awesome for rushing and killing little guys and Blizz chews bosses up pretty fast. You'll have to underpower the Blizzard a bit, but I feel that the utility FO will add it will make up for that loss.

Unless you are some rich maniac with 10 Cold Skillers in your inventory (in PvM o.O?), don't try for FO/Blizz.

Oh, and yes, Frozen Orb is a very viable build, as you listed. However, a few changes to make:

5 prereqs
20 Frozen Orb
20 Cold Mastery
20 Telekinesis
1 Teleport
3 prereqs
1 Energy Shield
1 Frozen Armor
1 Shiver Armor
1 Warmth
1 Static Field
dump the rest into Ice Bolt, or Teleport, or whatever the hell you want ~.~

Go for no-block, hoping for more mana than life, Energy Shield should be your first line of defense, make sure you got enough mana to use it though!

Even after this, Orb will still not be MASSACRE-ing in Hell, but if you learn the right angles and stuff, you can kill stuff pretty well.

I still think Blizz is better though... ... ...

Also, I don't think you need the PTopaz in the Lidless, just have a MF weapon switch for firing off the killing orb. I think PTopaz in a lidless goes well if you're using the Oculus for an overall higher MF while using your KILL gear, but with Death's Fathom, you may be better off using a facet or a perfect diamond, or something.

You don't have enough FCR and your resists are going to be all red in Hell. And putting a P.Topaz in a shield is a silly idea :) Replace the rare +2 cold ammy with a Mara's, and put a P.Diamond in your shield instead. That still won't be enough to take care of your resists though... You might want to drop some of the MF gear in favor of survival, and make up your mf numbers through charms...

PS - If you want maximum versatility, Meteorb is the way to go...

P.Topaz in a shield gives lightning resistance, not magic find.

1 point invested into energy shield... and no blocking. Doesn't sound very good to me. I'd recommend you get some blocking, that way 1/4 of the physical attacks will not be draining your mana. :uhhuh:

And what have you got in mind for stat points? For a low level energy you'd need something along the lines of a balance between life and mana? You'd have to figure that one out.

Yep.

Ok im debating on whether or not to make an all out orb sorc or to make a bliz sorc.

If you want to be able to magic find in a lot of areas I recommend against a single element build. This season I am using a blizzard-firewall build and she can do all the runs. Other good builds are meteor-orb (probably the most popular, and I used this last season) and Chain-lightning-Orb(more equipment dependent.)

My bliz-firewall does solo Baal, pindle, eldrich, shenk, Meph&minions, the Council, Andy, and the Pits. I havent tried her in the other areas though I am sure she can handle them nicely.
