does it change the 25% reduce to higher percentages? for example with
-100% resist conviction, does static field do -50% monster hp?

not entirely true... it doesn't increase damage but lowers resists. So if you have a monster with 50% lightning resists then your static will only do 12.5% damage so getting rid of that 50% resists will knock it back up to 25%
And still... if you get them negative then you're still only doing 25% damage. Kinda like crushing blow and amp damage or decrepify.

Good point. Forgot about the fact that static can be resisted.
However, while it would be glorious, 50% life damage per static is overpowered and indeed unpossible. (I'm guessing you're thinking about using stormlash :))
there was such a thing in the previous patch. conviction aura plus static field could actually kill anything very quickly. Yes...static field actually KILLED monsters.

Another point... If the Conviction is powerful enough to break a lightning immunity, a creature previously immune to Static will then be affected by it.
