It's been a while since my last installment - time for another update. Thie idea is to give a general update on things thet might be a bit behind the scenes...

* We've added a new sticky, listing the tournaments in progress here in the SPF. As I said in that thread, I'm amazed by the number and variety of tournaments run in this forum. I've not seen anything like it on the web. Congrats to all of you who host and play these events

* Speaking of tourneys, the 3-Way Dance, hosted by Psycho, ran for over a year, and may be the most successful tourney here ever. But never content, Psycho has started part II - crazy!!

* Silverbolt took the time to write a Guide to the Giveaway Thread, which has been linked form our main FAQ, and will be included each week in the giveaway thread. Nice work SB!

* Hardcore SP. A year ago, the "experts" said it couldn't be done in 1.10. Well, we've proved 'em wrong. Not only is hardcore alive, but growing. I must admit that I thought it was a fad, and that everyone would go back to SC. I was wrong, and I'm glad :)

* Two moderators for the SPF - I want to thank Kremtok for his help here. A number of you may recall the "bad" threads that ran on too long, or the help that was slow in coming. Since Krem has joined me, I think the SPF has seen excellent support. Please feel free to PM Kremtok as you have me if you need any help, or have a question.

* Remember our discussions on trading runes, and the possiblility of an SP trade forum? There is a plan in the works to implement these two ideas. The summer and real life have been pretty time consuming for Kremtok and me, but we are still working on this. We hope to announce something in September or October.

* A shout out to all of you who write character or other strategy guides. And I want to thank all of you who read and offer constructive feedback - this is a very important and appreciated service to our authors! As the guides are finalized, be sure to PM Kremtok or me so that we can submit your works for inclusion in the Strategy Compendium.

* A special thanks to all of you who welcome our new members, say goodbye to departing friends, and offer congratulations to those reaching important milestones. This is a wonderful contribution, and very much appreciated.

* I miss the colors too :(

I am proud of this forum and it's members. Keep on visiting, posting, sharing your items & knowledge, and having fun. That's what makes this community special.

Best regards to you all,

AE

#3?!?

I must have missed the previous two.

I'm very glad to be a part of the SPF community. It's a great place here. A trade forum sounds like it'd be tough work to moderate. Oh, and I wish we could petition for the return of colors. :uhhuh:

Dare I say it? I think this place is starting to mellow down. I haven't seen a harsh goodbye, or flame war in a long time. (If I've missed any, don't remind me. ;) )

Thanks for the updates.

Side note: SB gratz on the giveaway FAQ. It was much needed.

It's from a saturday night live skit, where will ferell(sp?) is the cowbell man on the "dont fear the reaper" song. And the producer(i forget the actor or real producers name) keeps telling him to give him more cowbell despite the bands anger with the constant cowbell and annoying dancing of will ferrell.

Man, it sounds really supid when you write it out like that.

I've been here over 6 months and didn't see the first two.If you've been here six months you should have seen them. :) #1 was on 17-Feb, and #2 on 17-Apr. Jeez, it's been four months since my last one - time flies :D

@strijdje - get back in line you furry critter!

@chase_encode - yeah, it's been WAY too quiet lately & it makes me nervous. There's always the quiet before the storm :scared:

it was Christopher Walken who kept demanding more cowbell and his voice was perfect throughout the who routine. for my money it's the only truly funny skit SNL has had since the original cast left.

An impressionist does part of that bit on comedian Steven Lynch's First CD, "Special Ed." I thought it was really him the first I heard it

Oh yeah. This has gone way OT now but SNL has been pretty bad since farley/sandler/spade left.

the hazards of being older than everyone around

original SNL cast= John Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtain, Garrett Morris, Chevy Chase (replaced by Bill Murry after 1 season) and uh... some other chick no one ever remembers. oh yeah, Loraine Neuman.

The original cast rocked, although I will say dennis miller did some good stuff on the weekly news during his tenure- that cast was pretty good occasionally too.

OMG!!! That skit is super-funny... but it's not the only skit that's funny. Christopher Walken does lots of funny skits! (Granted, he's the only one) I like the Colonel Angus skit, all the ones where he wears that stupid moustache and lives in the apartment and hits on the camera lady (man) (Dammit I can't remember the name of the skit now), the skit where he's a janitor and falls in love with Mango, I just can't get enough Christopher Walken!!!

"Land Shark" that skit freaked me out as a kid.

Anyone want a cheeseburger?

Oh and I don't remember the guys name who was the producer but I can see his face and remember him from the movies but no idea on his name.

@AE *removes fingers from in front of eyes* or no wonder I didn't see them

Eddie Murphy as "Buttwheat" and "Velvet Jones" - now those were some classic moments. I did love the Land Shark sketches.

*looks around* Have we completed the hijack of this thread?

While the original cast was, indeed, impressive, you have to admit that a comparable cast (and probably the last really funny group) was comprised of Dana Carvey, Chris Farley, David Spade, Kevin Neelan (sp?), Rob Schneider and Adam Sandler. If you can get your hands on the episode with Patrick Swayze (again, sp) then you should love it, pet it, and cherish it daily. Good stuff.

*trots off singing "he stuffs his trousers. joo heard me right, I said he stuffs his trousers. With a plastic penis! It fell out in Lima..."*

 , I had no idea my cow bell comment would derail this topic so much. I checked this thread yesterday and was amazed to find that someone actually recognized the reference (huzzah to HBeachBabe  and thx for pointing out the REAL original snl cast). Boy am I amazed to find that the 2nd page of this thread is dedicated solely to cowbell, not that that's such a bad thing. Sorry AE, you should've seen this high jacking coming in the first place because your post is sorely lacking in the cowbell department.
