I doubt any would be on, but anyone here from Florida? If so, good luck with that hurricane. We got lucky. I live in Louisiana just off the Vermillion River, where the hurricane was supposed to go straight along. So, we're very lucky, since it's a category 4, and quite possibly could've been a category 5 by the time it hit us.

I am in Florida, but up near Pensacola, so I am thankfully well away from this one, and Bonnie missed us, too. My prayers go out to those in South Florida, though. Having lived through my share of major hurricanes, I know it's no picnic. Stay safe!

Yes, in fact, I live in Tampa Bay, where they said last night we'd get clobbered by this mofo. Now they say it'll go south of us, but not by much. I really take the news with a pillar of salt, since these meteorologists don't really have a clue what's happening. And now it's a Category 4!! 145 mph winds, oh the joy!!

In any event, I guess we'll find out what's really going to happen in just a few hours. With any luck, it'll keep away and I won't be picking up pieces of my house tomorrow.

Best of luck. Even a Cat. 2 can cause some pretty big damage, God knows a Cat. 4 could.

It is a huge storm. Check this (http://www.intellicast.com/Local/USNationalWide.asp?loc=usa&seg=LocalWeather&prodgrp=RadarImagery&product=RadarLoop&prodnav=none&pid=none) out. You can click on Florida to get a nice close up. I pray for everyone that stayed down there.

Best of Luck Kung Poo

I used to live in Miami and visited 6 weeks after Andrew and it was nasty. If you're outside of 20 miles of the eye, you should be ok.

I live in NE kansas, and there was like a uber humongous rare tornado in like the far corners of NW. It was refered to as a 'mothership', the meteorologist on the news said these are so rare that they make even the strongest non-believers believe theyve seen leprichauns...weird ****.

It really does look like what u would call a mothership to...the pic looked like a huge *** UFO. I mean HUGE...but damn gl with that hurricane, in my 14 years on this earth ive never been in 1..Closest ones within 6 miles..

and people call us crazy in California because we live on top of an earthquake faultline. :-/ we get maybe one big earthquake every 10-15 years. you guys get major hurricanes every summer.

I'll take my chances with the shaking ground.

Kinda funny that HBeachBabe would mention california cuz I'm in cali for the summer working at a company and now (aug 14), I'll be flyin back to Florida where I live. My flight is tomorrow and I hope it's not canceled or anything.

Good luck to everyone on the west coast of FL, I live in West Palm Beach so i'm on the east coast.

My fiancee's family are just south of Jacksonville, and they are in the path - but it will be much weaker by the time it gets that far.

I believe the most dangeorus part when it actually hits the coast is not the wind, but the storm surge in the sea level. It was up 12 feet near Sarasota, which must be a bit scary in a state which doesn't get much over 12 feet above sea level the whole way across... That's not just a 12 foot wave, that's the whole ocean rising up 12 feet.
