You know, 1.09 was when I started playing oh so long ago. Add that to the fact my first and primary char was a Barb (I loved the Warrior from D1) and therefore I trolled this Barb forum a lot. Then it seemed everyone and their mother wanted some form of Ethereal Cruel Colossus Sword of Quickness/Evisceration etc etc, but the interest in them seems to have faded...

Is this true, does anyone still care about CSSoQ's and such or is it just me ? I'm still on my eternal quest to cube a (E)CSSoQ/E, but I've noticed something strange in 1.10. Using the 3 chips + CS/CB recipe, I no longer get 3 sockets in my sword? In 1.09 I always got 3 sockets. Now it's either 1 or 2. Could someone clarify this?

Also, I have a question, I recently cubed a 2 socket Cruel Colossus Sword of the Leech (227% ED, 4% ll, damnit, heh), but it's far superior to the Hexfire I was using :P Anyhow, I was thinking of dumping a P skul OR some kind of 30%+ ED jewel and a Shael in it. One to increase the leach or damage, the second to hit the next BP. Is it worth it to waste a Shael in this sword? It's not like I'm going to get my hands on a EBotD anytime soon :P Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not much to clarify really, they just changed the recipe so you get either 1 or 2 sockets.
I hear something about lower ilvl aswell so you can't get the best mods, but I'm not sure about that one.

If that's the sword you want to use, go ahead and shael or ias jewel it, it's not like they're hard to get :)

Yeah, shaels are pretty common, go ahead and use it. Breakpoints are important.

Guys :O, cool
I got a similar question, now using 1.10. I am trying to craft such a sword CruelColossusBladeofEvisceration in D2X.
Problem:
I noticed that the 3 chipped gems + 1 magical weapon recipe on the page "http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/cube.shtml" indicates that the ilevel of the crafted magical weapon is 25 and that it will get 1-2 sockets.
:(
Is that page correct for version 1.10? If that is the case, then I cant craft CCBE because the 'cruel' prefix is alevel=51 and the 'of evisceration suffix' is alevel=45.
However:
I used the recipe a few times, and I think sometimes I had no sockets, meaning that the info on the page could be wrong. I also noticed in the page "http://www.diabloii.net/items/horadric-d2x.shtml" that the ilevel max is 60, which means :) I may still craft my CCBE someday.

DOes anyone have any info on this? I dont want to waste my time collecting more chipped gems if it wont work :(.

OK, I seem to have answered my own question.

This is posted in another thread:

The recipe does seem to work: 3 chippeds + 1 magical weapon = new magical weapon.

I had a problem because, to my understanding, the info on the battle.net site said that the resulting item would have ilevel=25. This gave me the impression that I would not get anything with high level affixes. But I just got a 'knights' prefix on my colossus blade, which is a prefix with alevel=38, meaning that the recipe can produce at least an ilevel=38. So, the ilevel=25 info is wrong or I read it wrong, but, the resulting crafted item can have ilevel>25. Yey.

Now, I am using a colossus blade which specifically says on it "requires level 63", in other words clevel=63. (This hasn't changed throughout my transmutations) The info at "http://www.diabloii.net/items/modifiers-new/xprefixes.shtml" says that the clevel=3/4 of ilevel (where ilevel=highest possible alevel). The info at "http://www.diabloii.net/items/horadric-d2x.shtml" says that the recipe has ilevel=60. So that means if I keep crafting with that sword, I could get an affix that has alevel=(4/3*60=80. Nice. Is this right?
This seems to contradict the level=74 requirement that someone stated earlier because then I could get as affixes both the cruel prefix (alevel=51) and the evisceration suffix (alevel=45) on a weapon that has clevel=3/4 of 51=39.

Note assuming that I am right:
That situation, then, includes the possibility of getting other unwanted high alevel affixes during my trials with the clevel=63 colossus blade. That means it may take me longer to get the desired affixes because the number of possibilities increases due to the higher number of possible affixes.
I could use a falcata (min clevel=42), which can get up to an affix of level 57 (alevel=4/3 of 42=57) - which is well above the affix level of the cruel prefix (alevel=51) and the affix level of the of evisceration suffix (alevel=45).
This would reduce the number of possible results, and so would give me a chance to find the cruel-weapon-of evisceration in less trials.

IF anyone has any more info please post.
Thanks

If you're on West I could give you my old CCSoQ if you really want one. O.o

Given I still have it..
