View Full Version : Arreat's + Higlord's Vs Guillaume's + Mara's
I'm going to start a new Barbar which will use this weapon:
Two-Hand Damage: 51 to 128
Durability: 33 of 33
Required Dexterity: 41
Required Strength: 41
Required Level: 48
Polearm Class - Very Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 82
+329% Enhanced Damage
+286 to Attack Rating
30% Increased Attack Speed
Level 2 Concentrate (19/25 Charges)
Repairs 1 durability in 20 seconds
Ethereal (Cannot be Repaired)
Upgraded of course. But I've been thinking about the helm + amulet combo. I think I'll go with Guillaume's + Mara's because the lovely cb from Guillaume's is to good to resist. But what do you think is best?
edit: WW barbar it is.
Highlord's, as you probably know, offers a good % chance of deadly strike, what is something complitely different from CB from Guillaume's. Since you've already got a chance to do double damage on your mastery, I would also probably go with the later combo. But Arreat's has got such massive stats that it might also be worth it. You could try some other way to get CB AND Arreats, like Gore Riders, crafted gloves with CB or the unique ogre gauntlets and some lower armor like Rattlecage...
anyway, just a suggestion, feel free to disregard
That's a hell of a rare
Sorry, no suggestions, just wanted to comment on the helluva-ness of the rare, lol.
WW or Conc?
*throws 2 cents into the thread*
IMO, you're better to go either for resistances with Arreats and Maras or DS with Guillaumes and Highlords. Going for a bit of each will leave you with average resists and not great DS. So it's up to you to make the decision: Killing Speed vs Survivability.
I've never had problems with not having CB on WW barbs.
Edit: Don't Scythes have like range 2?
Edit: Don't Scythes have like range 2?
Scythes, Battle Scythes and Threshers have range 2. This makes them less perfect for WW, but doable.
In order for that rare to reach the last breakpoint, you'll have to Shael it.
the range will be rather poor, I would take arreats/highlords and if you really want CB you can get it elsewhere
+3skills +2 combat 30 resist all .375%deadly/clvl all very nice altho 20ias doesn't really help
otherwise, at best, you're looking at
+2 skills 30 resist all 15% deadly 35% crushing
I'd take the bonuses of the arreat over the guillame and the bonuses of the highlords over maras, I don't see any way of considering guillame+mara
and if you need you can always up resists with arreat+mara since you won't have a shield
Well I would like to add some IMHO here too.
The best amulet for WW baba is a rare one with dual leech and resists.
The best helm for him is a rare circlet with the same mods.
And if you really need CB with that weapon you always can add some boots or gloves with it.
Thank you all for your input.
Good point. But I don't like the "Hit Causes Monsters to Flee" mod on Rattlecage.
Yeah, I like it too :)
Good point. But I always have max resist (except cold), no matter the cost. It's just a question about how many resist charms and how many max/ar charms I need/want to use.
Of course, they do well without cb. But I think they do better with. But Iíve never built a ww barb with high cb so Iím not sure.
Yes, I know. I think however, that it's just make it more difficult to play. You have to do shorter WW:s and stay closer to the mosters. Difficult but I'll learn.
@ Ash Housewares
In any case I'll use Gore Rider. That's 15%cb (15%ds too btw). Using Guillaume's would give me 15% + 35% = 50%cb. Thatís pretty grim, and why Iím considering that combo. And without changing weapon, I canít get that elsewhere, because there is no decent armour with cb in single player. Of course there's Blood gloves which gives 10. But even if I change Gore Rider for Goblin Toe (Which I think all will agree is bad idea) I wont reach more then 35%cb.
@ Igor Potapov
I think most people disagree with you about the rare stuff.
Now, it may sound like Iíve decided already. But I havenít. Perhaps I'll try both.
i would go with arreats just cause its cool
