Alright, here i am with a lvl 80 mf sorc (following Vegas guide) with half decent gear and i can't easilly run meph, yes! i am an idiot. So i'm looking for any suggestions or tips or anything to help me run meph

Here's my mf setup

helm: Shako (Topaz)
Armor: Skuldars (Topaz)
Belt: Glooms trap
boots: Infernostride
Rings: Nagels
Ammy Maras :)
Weap: Occy/rhyme heater
gloves: Frosties

Merc:(doesn't matter since he usually dies anyway)

Act 2 Defiance

Helm: Blackthorns
Armor: Duriels
weap: Reapers Toll

Any gear change suggestions or stratagies(spelling?) you think i should use?

thx for any help.

Looks pretty good to me. Only things I can think of that may help would be levelling up, and of course the somewhat cheesy moat-trick. The moat trick makes runs incredibly safe, but a little bit slower. Hope this helps.

I'm not entirely sure why your having so much trouble running Meph, but im guessing its because your Merc dies. See if you can come across a nice weapon with Life Tap charges on it. My merc is using some decent gear but even he needs some assistence with Meph, nothing a potion or two wont fix, though.

Oh and when you can, replace that duriels with a shaftstop or levi.

i would reccomend you get your cast rate up, from what i can tell youn have what 30% faster cast rate, the faster you can throw fire balls at him the faster he will die, also why arn't you using mage fist, +1 to fire skills and an additional 20 % fast cast rate and regen mana 25%, also instead of blackthorns use tals mask for you merc, 10% more LL, 60 life and 15 rest all. Untill you gtet to lvl 85 use the Mote trick and spamm FO when you are safe. also be prepaired to use lots of potions on him..

Tal's helm is indeed better than Blackhorn's, even tho meph is unleechable.

Moat trick is cheesy, but effective.

Try getting better boots.

I'm guessing your problem is in your merc lvl. My fishy makes a point of always keeping his mercenary at his lvl - isn't so hard when i rely on him for most of the kills - and with good gear he almost never dies.

But yeah, could also resort to ye olde moat trick if you don't want to spend time lvling the merc.

If you look for it, I'm sure my thread about the same problem is still floating around. My mercenary has begun to survive the runs, and his equipment is as follows:
Kelpie Snare
Rockstopper
Shaftstop

The reason that he died so easily before was because of Mephisto's very nasty physical attacks. Now he can tank players 3 mephy about 90% of the time, the other 10% I had to tele-drag him out of there while the super healing potions take effect. Basically, your mercenary is just there to tank, so your priorities are as follows:
1. Slow down Mephisto's attack power (75% Slow or Decrepify can do that well, but make sure to chill him, too)
2. Make your mercenary more durable (40% DR + Maxed Resists, feed him super healing potions as soon as he loses more than 1/5 of his health)
3. Kill Mephisto as soon as possible

Try to chill Mephy before he engages your mercenary, give your tank a chance to land that first hit so the slow/decrepify fires off. My sorceress has maxed block and can take maybe 3 hits from Mephisto before getting badly hurt, haven't checked while wearing stormshield, but I imagine it'll be much easier. So I teleport right on top of him, let him try to whack me a few times while the merc puts slow on him, meanwhile, I keep casting static. Once he's down to half his life, I step back a bit and obliterate him with around 6 x fully synergized FOs. If the damn vampires join the fun, I simply leave the game because it's almost impossible to kill him while standing in a firewall and being hit by meteors.

Thx for the help guys.

What palyer setting are you using?

I use p3 because if i am correct it gives the best time/dropchance ratio

you can throw fire balls at him the faster he will die

Ahhh, i use Fo as main attack and metaor as a backup, so fireballs are out (And IIRC meph has a higher fire resist than he does cold resist)

I'm guessing your problem is in your merc lvl

Nope, merc is also lvl 80

2. Make your mercenary more durable (40% DR + Maxed Resists, feed him super healing potions as soon as he loses more than 1/5 of his health)

Yeah, i'm getting on this now, gotta find a shaft tho.

I'm currently using a life tap wand and thats working ok.....

thx for all the help guys

My blizzard sorc's merc never dies against hell meph. Then again... he's an act 5 and most people don't use the A5 mercs.

what is this moat trick?

After you activate meph you tele back to any of the platforms in Durance three (near the council members) I've seen most people use the left one by the way.

After that just use your main (magic) attack against him.

Later.

What he said ^^. In doing this, Meph gets caught on the "moat" and cannot attack you or your mercenary. Meanwhile you just blast away while Meph stands there like a blind turtle.
