"Player cannot be found" bug

my friend "had" a lvl 90 sorc on us east ladder. one day when he tried to login on that char, it said player cannot be found. so he went on blizz's website for troubleshooting and it said to wait a couple hours b/c he didnt exit correctly or something. The next day, the wierd stuff started happening. His sorc on the menu screen said lvl 85 instead of lvl 90! Then, it wasnt even wearing the right gear. also it didnt even say ladder char! This was really messed up and my friend told me he was gonna email blizz. His lvl 90 sorc had some decent stuff as well (2 shakos, sojs, etc.) Do any of you think his char got hacked or something else?

Are your sure your friend isn't pulling your leg or something????
A character loosing 5 levels ???
No idea how that could have happened or even if it's possible.

im pretty sure he wasnt kidding b/c when he was rushing me in hell yesterday online, he used his other sorc only at lvl 74. And plus, he was freaking out badly on aim yesterday.

When the new ladder seaon began, I made an Assasin for a mule. When I tried to use her, I got the same message, "player does not exist". I was like "wtf". I quit Diablo and restarted and no problem..I dont know why that happend, but it was lvl 1 mule so I didnt even have anything on her yet..sorry to hear your friends experience is worse.

Good to hear, did he email blizzard about it and get it fixed or did time solve the problem?

he told me he tried logging on this morning and it worked. His lvl and items were all back and hes back on ladder.

usually it's just lag for me, i just try it again.

MY main mule (a ditched level 87 paladin) was lost for a week! Every time I tried to get on it said player not found and I tried at least twice a day for a week. Then one day I could get on him again, really weird.
