The new rune formulas in 1.10 was a pretty useful feature, except when you get past Gul, it's kind of rediculous. When's the last time you got 2 Chams and cubed up to a Zod? For example it would suck to find a Vex, trade it for a Ber and have the Ber dissapear on you. This would eliminate that fear if you actually found one yourself but are nervous to trade for a different one. I was thinking since high runes are pretty much interchangeable to trade for, they should implement something that is a high rune + a lower rune that hellforge can drop + a pgem = a different high rune. something like this:

Vex + Lum + Ptopaz = Ohm
Vex + Ko + PAmythyst = Lo
Vex + Fal + PSapphire = Sur
Vex + Lem + PRuby = Ber
Vex + Pul + PEmerald = Jah
Vex + Um + PDiamond = Cham
Vex + Mal + PSkull = Zod

this would also increase the use of some runes like mal which arent used that much. maybe should replace um with Gul since um is pretty popular...
the pattern would continue for all runes vex through zod like this and zod would look somethnig like this:
Zod + Lum + Ptopaz = Vex
Zod + Ko + PAmythyst = Ohm
etc.

tell me what you think, it's just a random idea, and not like bliz will ever consider it

oh, and it would be non-ladder too, give us NL players a break!

I've played this game (sp) for four years now, and the highest that's ever dropped for me is a Lem. Ever. Pretty discouraging to play single player and know that those high level rune words are out of reach still.

Sure, high runes are interchangeable in our economy, but that doesn't really mean anything to Blizzard. While they are all rare, a Zod is still much, much rarer than a Vex, or Ohm, or even Ber.

isn't our economy all that matters really? bliz adapted to our economy to try getting rid of so many sojs by making cube recepies at first and then the world event. and it would give legit single players to maybe use a zod in something, only requiring 2 guls and a mal really. someone on single player can probably play for 10 years and never find one.

No, they didn't adapt to anything. They just helped fix it. Making high runes further interchangeable (as suggested in the original post) would further screw the economy and encourage dupers with any high rune.

What if Bliz restricted it to SP only? That would be fair imo...

IcemanJ256 is right, you could play D2 for years in SP and never ever be able to get a zod. That's not fair

You can play Bnet for years and never be able to get a zod.

Why should economy be screwed up if runes where more easy to get? what's the final goal of blizzard? The actual game system makes richests out of riches and keeps poors poor. With hellforge powerrush gul are now quite common, so do vex. Is it that bad if you can burn some gul for a ber or so? Cmon the new runewords are really unaffordable, if i was a father i would not be happy knowing my son finds 10 hours a day to get his 36 shakos to buy a cham. An interesting fact to know, btw, would be "how many games are created a day / how many runes are dropped a day"
