Wake of Fire vs. Lightning Sentry (both base level) with mindblast, which is a better trap for catching fast teleporters? I'm curious what people have to say on this topic.
Not only catching them, but holding them so they can't get away.
My personal experience has been that WoF is best trap for this. However, I have played much more with wake than with LS. There may be LS experts out there who feel differently.
LS fire 10 times, which means less recasting, but I have always had a somewhat better time escaping LS than a WoF field. Perhaps LS is better to catch and WoF better to hold?
I am rebuilding my tele-kicker to incorporate some recent ideas and discoveries I have made and I am trying to decide on whether to drop a point in LS (which will cost me 3 skill pts. total) for tactical gain in certain duels.

i have a hybrid bowsin / fire trapper and that id have to say almost all telespamming sorcs run into my wof because, wof is hard too see, it blends it very nicely and it covers a nice range unlikle ls which shoots in straight lines, however wof gets really good with its sys so if you just want too stun then wof is best.
If you mix it up, you might be able to keep opponents guessing, not to mention added range + stun coming from both traps. Of course placement is very essential in pulling this off succesfully.

Depends on oponent. Those with short range such as windies and cold sorc need to approach to attack thus WOF works well against them. Against oponents with very long range such as FB sorcs or bonenecs the added range of LS is helpful.

Anyone ever try Wake of Inferno? 2 WoF can hold any char until MB wears off... just a thought.
Have you actually tried WoI? I played with it while playing trapper in v.09 and v1.1 and although the damage is constant, they have so much time in between shots its ridiculous. It'd be extremely difficult to time them so that they fire in between each other's shots, but hey, I guess it's worth a shot :P

I think that WOI's bugs would preclude it from being that useful...

LS tends to do well because it shoots like 2 screens away and catches people off guard. plus if you're playing defensively LS is also the better option because it likes when people come at it. on the othe hand if your trying to catch a tele, LS sucks, unless they tele into it by accident and it nicks them (which happens occasionally). WoF is your best bet. Covers a larg area and shoots faster than LS it seems, though that could just be me hallucinating. Keep in mind however that at lvl like 15 WoF only does like 60 dmg by itself. This is to balance the large area it covers. Thus it is synergy intensive, moreso than LS i'd say.
WoF only has two synergies.
LS does suck, they're easy to see, and you can never catch anything teleing or moving unless they run straight into it.
Having LS and WoF however isn't a bad idea, it throws people a bit off, because, number one, they are not sure which trap to stack resis against, and number two, they provide two very different tactical capabilities. One for long range and one for large area.

If your not too tight on skill points, why not 1 LS and 1 WoF -
WoF for teleporters ~ stun and kick
LS - for big a** melee barbs/palys etc.
