Damn you Blizzard :(
I'm going to search through the forum to get a better understanding of how Rust Storm works, but I just realized my one and only high rune, Jah, disappeared. I'd estimate that it was under my ownership for a couple weeks by now, and I didn't really touch it much because I wasn't interested in making Enigma or any other runewords involving Jah.
Also, I'm pretty sure the person I acquired it from is a reputable trader from the US West trade forums.
Recently, I've been looking to acquire a Ber rune to create Chains of Honor, so I try to offer my Jah rune for Ber rune. I don't get many interested traders (meaning no one), so I decide to check on it and find out I can't find it anywhere!
That about sums it up. I thought the rune was pretty legit since it didn't poof on me immediately after the trade, but Blizzard and Rust Storm have to be mean and take it away after a couple weeks. :(

hmmm found this quote which might explain what the hell happened to my Jah
Ok, basically Blizzard[Battle.net] has implemented a thing called the Rust Storm. What this does is when two items[runes in your case] with the same ID[an internal number] enter a game, one of them is destroyed[normally the first person to leave loses the item]. Although this Rust Storm was proven to be effective, people would dupe runes and then cube them up, giving them a new, legitimate ID. In all cases, if you're worried about losing runes, I'd just buy the runeword straight-up.
guess I should have muled the Jah (kept it on my lvl 86 Pally) to my lvl 1 rune mule instead of being afraid of the unspeakable happening (I self mule) :(

this on laddar or non?
Actually if you did'nt find it yourself, you can't assume its legit.

non-ladder
I know that if I trade for any high rune, then the likelihood of it being a dupe is probably around 100%. It just seemed to me that since the Jah was sticking around for a while, I thought it was going to stay there for a long while. =(
I always thought Rust Storm scanned your accounts for dupes when you logged in, but I didn't know it also checked for dupes when joining a game and when others join a game.

BUY the runes straight up huh. Honestly i think theres something seriously twisted in the spending of real money on video game items (...supressing bad memories of EverCrack)..

I think he meant to trade for the pre-made runeword, not to BUY it with actual money. Most people around here are very anti-d2-gear-on-ebay. Either that or they hide their activities to prevent themselves being excomunicated

I've had runes I've found disappear on me.
Lost a Zod and a Ber. Only rune I haven't found so far in this game is Sur.
Sucks. A lot.

From the looks of things of the latest ruststorm item deletions, runes made from cubing up DUPED runes are also going poof. Apparently it isn't as simple as "They get a new ID so they can't be detected".

I dunno if I smell that, but why does everything smell like fish?
Copied from my other posts.
Trading high runes, no matter on this forum or not, always bears the risk that the runes are duped. The thing is that over 95% of the high runes are duped themselves undoubtedly anyway, no matter who now holds them. Unless you traded with a very reputable forum members swearing to you that he found it himself instead of from trading.....
