I have maxed Fury, CS and LS (slvl 34 with items, no charms). Should I continue with synergies or put points in e.g. valk and max it instead?

Imho, if you are doing a pure Javazon, there's really no need to max all the lightning skills.., Cs is enough along with Lf..., unless of course you are looking for the highest lightning dmg possible. Valk is needed and for Light Imm's, I would tend toward poison side combined with Jab. But to really answer your question, yes you need Valk etc and theres no need to max the other Light skills. I have 1 point in all passive, and my valk is lvl 6 atm and dies pretty quick.

I'm not sure yet, haven't decided what to do with my 17 saved skill points.

put them in valk till u get it to lvl 17

Get some pierce action going. Your lightning fury will surely benefit.
