View Full Version : Suggestion for the Kinds of Items Blizz should create

Blizz should try to create items and set items that allow new builds or allow people to use powers that they normally wouldn't. They did this in part by creating synergies. Some skills have gotten much better, but there are still skills that go unused. I have a suggestion for two claws that would push builds around FB and Shockweb and Blade Sentinel. I throw this out there as an model for Bliz to look at and for others to think about. I think it would be interesting to have a wand that grants +10 Fire Bolt(sorceress only) with small numbers of charges of high level Fire Ball and the other synergies for Fire Bolt. This would only be useful if you wanted to use Fire Bolt as your main attack. You would still have to max Fire Mastery and Firebolt to get the attack. The idea would be to push builds into using the weaker skills in the end game and reward them by getting the damage up on these skills by what ever means were necessary.
Another idea would be a claw that grants super high physical damage and attack rating, but is ethereal and then make sure that Blade Sentinel/Blade Fury and Blade shield don't reduce durability. Thus you wouldn't be able to use the claw for melee because of destroying the ethereal item, but it would be very useful for Blades.

Here was an idea I had for two set item claws:

It would be cool if there were claws like these:

Talionis's Mad Bomber Set

Mad Bomber's Fury
Ethereal Runic Talons

450% Enhanced Damage
30% Increased Attack Speed
+50 Mana
+30% more maximum mana
30% Resist Lightning
5 Charges of level 25 LS
5 Charges of level 25 CBS

Mad Bomber's Zeal
Feral Claws

100% Enhanced Damage
+1 Assassin Skills
+2 Trap Skills
+50 Life
+30% more Life
30% Resist Fire
- 15 Magic Damage
-20 Physical Damage
5 Charges of level 25 Wake of Fire
5 Charges of level 25 Wake of Inferno

Set Bonus for Equiping Alpha and Beta Claw
+10 all Stats
30% Resist Poison
75% Reduced Poison Duration
30 FHR
+10 Death Sentry (Assassin Only)--Optional
+2 Assassin Skills
+3 Blade Sentinel
+6 Venom

The "Marrowalk Bug" makes putting points in trap skills in the lightning tree past Shock Web useless, since charges only work to boost synergies if the skill has no hard points in it. Notice the charges are so small in number as to be completely impracticle to ever actually use they could be a bit higher and still be fine. These claws are mostly worthless to normal trappers. Purhaps the shield claw could be very good for a LS trapper trying to greatly increase their FB damage, but I don't think it would be too bad a thing. But the biggest thing is this build pushes you to use Blade Sentinel. It gives you a claw with enough damage on it to be usable with BS. BS also counts against your trap count. Thus instead of your LS traps you'd push bombers into casting BS as their "cast and forget" traps. Allowing them both the damage to actually use FB and SW effectively, but also nullifying the normal traps you see CBS and LS and WoF. -- I was thinking of giving them access to the DS when both claws were equiped, but that might be something removed and considered a disadvantage of this build.

Your setup could then be:

20 SWeb
20 FB
20 Blade Sentinel (More for time than anything else)
20 Venom
Rest of Points in Fade

Not a bad build. This is the type of items that blizzard should create. Items that make new builds possible.

I like the idea of rounding out the play styles and character types completely. I've had games where there are 8 of us, and of them, there are 3 hammerdins, 4 cold sorcs, and a trapper. I swear it's about 30% hammerdin, 30% cold sorcs, 20% other sorcs. Then a smattering of Barbarians (who all Max BO, regardless of the barbarian...probably play sorcs and think BO is the only thing a barbarian is good for...), the occasionall summoning necro, trapper, rarely a bowazon or javazon, a were-druid or two, and rarely a bone/poison necro. There are so many completely unused skills, that should be beefed up so it would actually be viable to use them. (Light Chain-Lightning sorcs. It's a viable alternative. Or your idea with lower level spells at higher levels using synergies.) But some things never get used and would really be better off changed

The idea is a good one I like the idea of using skill setups different from the cookie-cutters. I don't see many throw barbs around but i love to play mine 2x gimmershreds and 4 sets of 2x eth gimmershreds in my stash. He does pretty crazy damg and is a bit different its hillarious to see people die and be like wtf a throw barb?

basically your plan here is to just exploit glitches...i dont think this is such a great idea for that reason. besides a superhigh claw would just net itself a zod and become a super high damage, godly claw that isnt breakin. dont get me wrong, i would love it if items existed to support lesser used builds like this, but unfortunately doing it through exploiting a glitch wont work well.

I really want to see an armor that gives +1 blizzard or frozen orb to a char, that would be cool *dreams of a real frostadin*
