Not only did I defeat Hell Diablo today, but I didn't die once doing it - I never even got below half-life. Talk about a surprise.
More deathtraps await: Nilathak, Ancients, Baal & friends. But tonight I'm JAZZED!
All that leveling in the Pit paid off - I don't want to visit that place again for a while. I'll be Mr. Blood Run for a while, then level in all the ice caves.
Diablo dropped 4 terrible rares & a bezerker's armor: I won't be running HIM anytime soon.
:clap: :clap:

good work.
what level/ character/ build.
Wow... that's great. I died like 3 times but found Diablo ultimately easier than Duriel. Nice work though! Congrats!!
Be careful out on the foothills. Those archers and slingers are nasty!

good work.
what level/ character/ build.
Lvl 83 Avenger - the build isn't quite 'right', but it's close enough apparently. I'll find out if it's good enough when I get to the Ancients.
When I was building, I maxxed Salvation rather than pump the individual synergy resistances - so my damage output is lower than it should be. I also frittered away points in some of the utility spells, since I thought I had plenty to spare. Oops. So I've got 5 in Thorns, when 2 would suffice, and 2 each in Prayer, Cleansing, and Meditation when one each would suffice.
I use Thorns when standing toe-to-toe with Diablo and Baal - maybe the Ancients too...Cleansing I use all the time in Hell, to remove curses. It doesn't help me fight but it cuts the waiting time. Meditation I used all the time when I had a crappy weapon, but now I leech plenty of mana, so I rarely use it.
Having that maxxed Salvation has saved my butt too many times to count: when fighting a cold/fire/lightning enhanced unique, I kept getting killed during the 'parting shot' they took when they died - I'd die too, half the time. Now I switch on Salv halfway through the fight & hardly get touched when they explode. So even though having it reduces my damage output, it's paid defensive dividends. I've got another Avenger started, to build according to the book, & I;ll see if I can get the hang of flipping on the correct resistance at the end of the fight.
I do not as yet have any + to Skills items working
Level 83 avenger? Wow... that takes you out of the "newbie" status, doesn't it? :)
Nice effort, especially considering you are a melee character. My avenger hates it in the Chaos Sanctuary, every time an Oblivion Knight is near, I'm scared of them casting IM :(

Not really - I still can ask far more questions than I can answer. I figure that's the biggest determining factor.
I also have half a dozen other characters I've started, just to see something different than this particular Avenger. They are all level 15-30:
A typical WW barb, to use the pair of Bloodletters I found in Pit runs;
An Avenger, constructed the 'right' way - without the deviation of maxed Salvation;
A cookie-cutter Zealot - I've never played a Zealot;
A Charger who utilizes the synergies - different than my 1.09 Shock Charger;
A cool-sounding Assassin build I found stickied in the forum, a Phoenix Striker;
and a Meteor Sorc (not Meteorb) that parallels my old tri-element DeathFromAbove build, but synergies preclude me from adding Blizzard to the Meteor and T-storm.
Once I get most of these 'new' (1.10) builds into Hell I'll stop calling myself a newbie - but at this point I don't really know squat.
LOL... then I'm like a super-duper-ultra-newbie.
