View Full Version : Duriel runs possible?
I'm currently mf'ing with my necro in nightmare lvl (i'm getting owned in hell) and I was wondering if Duriel runs are possible without having to do the staff quests all over again? I've never faced Duriel anymore once I've killed him so I'm not sure if the portal to his lair is still opened or not.

even if it is still open: you have to know which ones the real tomb. meaning you have to get to the Summoner again, look at his runes. there are four arms in the arcane sanctuary and Murphy's Law is working :)
then you have to look in the tomb itself...
better do mephisto or andariel. might save some time and a lot of effort.

duriel runs are possible but not suggested, duriel is not a consistent dropper and andy is easier to get to and kill(in my opinion)
but if you are set on doing duriel runs, you have to find the summoner, and im not quite sure if after you kill summoner you learn the right tomb, but if you look at the runes on the wall behind him. The real tomb is the one represented by the rune that is not on the wall. then you must find the coresponding tomb in the canyon, and then search for the entrance to tal rashas something or other. the entrance should be open.
ps. hotel california rock!
pps. murphys law sucks(am i allowed to flame murphys law?)

You can still go to Duriel, but if you are done with the quest, you will either have to try out all tombs or you will have to go to the Summoner in the Arcane Sanctuary to find out which is the right tomb. There are energy symbols floating in the air there and IIRC one is missing - the one of the tomb you will have to go to. These are not very effective ways of MFing, of course.
If you can live with not advancing past act 2, don't talk to Tyrael after killing Duriel. That way the quest isn't solved and perhaps the quest window still tells you whoch tomb to visit. I'm not sure about the quest window, as I never tried that.

After you kill Duriel, the quest window changes to "Explore Tal Rasha's chamber" and the tomb symbol disappears.

What happens if you make a character that gets the staff, gets the summoner quest, opens Duriel's chamber, but doesn't kill Duriel? Shouldn't it be possible to use this char to create a game, check his quest log for the tomb symbol, then leave the game, bring in the other char and do the thing?

I believe you can even kill Duriel if you want - just don't talk to Tyreal that will end that section of the quest. You can also create a Dury Mule this way to self rush your characters past ACT 2 without collecting the staff parts as Duriels chamber will already be open.

Refer to my earlier statement.
