Is blade shield worth it?

Ok I have a kicksin on west ladder, she is lvl 80 and is mostly complete...except for the 20 unused skill points, I just wanted to know if putting them in blade shield would help her win more duels. At this point she can kill 85% of all casters and about 15%of the melee crowd. TY for the help.

Or you could be really, really dirty and put them all in mindblast and kill 100% of the people by constantly keeping them stunned and witteling away on them with the pitiful mindblast damage..

but on topic, I don't think blade shield is worth a 20 point investment since it's damage isen't dramatically increased with the addition of points.. it's more the 1/4 weapon damage that helps it .. and that it transferes ow, ds, cb etc. More points would only really help your duration.. but whether it's worth 20 ? .. I don't think so.

However, I guess I'd need to know a little more about your build to even hazzard a guess at what you should spend them on ..

My skills for now are max dtalon, max venom, clawblock is at 60%, I suppose I could max dflight but it does pretty well as a 1 point wonder (11 after gear). I dont have any points in blade shield as of yet. There are a few times that I will end up dead and the other player at a sliver of life, I just was thinking maybe the added dmg/ow/venom would be worth a few points into blade shield.

blade sheilds really an all or nothing skill, for 1 point with + the duration is to low..its a good skill to have if your loaded up on OW etc so if you really cant think of anything then its not a bad skill to max.

ontop of the extra OWetc theres also the style factor :thumbsup:

Well I suppose since it really isnt too hard to get back to 80 I can try it out and see if I like it, if not I'll hit the remake button. You are definately right about the style. I'll see how it goes, thanks for the advice.

Yes, SM is very underrated. High lvl [35+ or even 30+] is very good tank and weapon. High Level MB is nice as well if you use WoF/MB stun a lot. Blade Shield also xfers magic damage from 'Chaos' and I think even Azurewrath, so you can gain extra damage from there as well. Either way I'd say spend the points if you can afford it.

I didn't think that OW or CB transfered from Blade Shield. I know that DS will though. I'm not sure what level you should get BS at. I can't see it being very helpful for duels. It might be a little more damage, if you have DS in your build and have high enough damage claws, but points in BS will not help you. I'm also not sure how long your duels last but you shouldn't need a real high level of Blade Shield for duration of a duel. 1/4 venom damage isn't that high really. Neither really will 1/4 one of your claws. But every little bit helps.

Ok, have fun finding somewhere else to put your points. But I still think using BS might not be a bad idea.

I can't vouch for SM, but I think it might be your best option.

Wrong. Hit Freezes target no longer works with Blade Shield. It worked that way in 1.09 and made the Blender Build possible. What you can get is chill, not freeze. You can get chill from adding sources of Cold Damage to your attack.

Physical Damage from weapon
Elemental Damage
Venom
Deadly Strike
Naturally Pierces Target

Nothing else works.
