what character to start with

Hey to make it short im a noob, and i just started to play diablo. I was wondering what character would be best to start out with and which can later on survive in hell and isnt too bad for magic find either. And that all with me starting out with NO good items at all.

Welcome to the forums, Dareo :)

I don't think there's one specific character which is best to start out with. It depends, in many ways, upon your own personality and preference in gameplay. Those who prefer close melee combat would opt for barbarians, paladins and perhaps assassins (did I spell that right.. oh well). Those who prefer magic and seeing fireballs fly may want to use a sorceress, druid or necromancer (if you're inclined to raising the dead etc. :)). If you've fancied Legolas, you may want to try playing an Amazon since they're pretty good with bows, so I've been told. I think all the classes work fine, each having their own advantages as well as disadvantages.

Whichever class you start with, the game allows you to mould the character into what you like. Non-spellcasting characters can use items which allow casting of spells so it's not a hard and fast rule that only sorcs can hurl fireballs, if you get my drift.

I start with a paladin and found him to be quite a nice character to play with. I've also tried playing a sorc. She's generally weaker but the ability to blast mobs with nifty spells is a turn-on :) What sorta character do you feel most associated with? You know... like those who read D&D books... those who like Raistlin may pick sorcs while those preferring Sturm may want a Paladin?

Sorceress is easy to play with. Melee chars like paladins and babarians might be tough. If you want to get a feel of the game, make a summoner. Look under Necromancer's forum and search for a Summoner build. You are less likely to perish and can level up and survive into Nightmare before you see hell in Hell.

a hammerdin is the easiest character to play through the game with. they can survive easily from normal to hell untwinked and without any help.

Good choice. What kind of sorc is it?

Also, after you begin your sorc, and begin MFing, you should probably attempt the Hammerdin that was mentioned. They become better MFers with the right gear, and can solo hell with ease with mediocre gear. :thumbsup:
