1.09 Flashback

[Pravda]

Anyone remember what pvp paladins they had before this not-so-good patch? The ones I remember the best are the couple I had in late 1.09. A liberator and a V/T.

My liberator had the following gear:

I still have those rings. They were pretty good by 1.09 standards, but so useless now :grrr: My hammer damage was around 850 :clap: and worked well until everyone began making a c/t/r =(

Stats... 20 Energy, 118 Str (for GA), 70 some dex, 340 some vit (arbitrary guesses). Without 1.08 stuff, about 2.1k life. With my Valor/Harly setup I used near the end of his career, about 3.6k life, with the full 1.08 setup, about 4.4k life. Hehe.

I missed those days where when I am feeling not well and just logged on and smacked Hydro's C/T/R for fun.

Hydro was just a big mouth and he was second fiddle to you anyway as far as that build was concerned. In the end the though he spent his entire wealth on one chracter that became obsolete after the patch. I did take enjoyment of smacking him after the patch came out with his 1.09 CTR vs my 1.09/1.10 geared V/T. :D

hi, it's me hydro momentarily, just got on my friend's account to respond. i realized i did have a 'big mouth' and i wasn't proud of that for one thing. oh and while you had your enjoyment of smacking my pally after 1.10 came out, i enjoyed whooping your pally while .09 was out :). o and i don't mind that i spend most of my wealth into that character because i was bound to quit anyways and the release of 1.10 further helped the cause of me quitting. i had wrestling season/most of my friends quit/paladins became the cookie cutter class/1.10 came out/etc. o and with the items i had i could have switched to a 1.10 paladin, i just didn't choose to, so that's definitely not foolish. sh could smack me in .09, which was nice X). oh and also, i gave away my account to my friend, which really shows i didn't care much for spending my wealth on 1 character.

hmm.. what else, oh and about my ctr, it was basically like sh's except a tiny bit less stacked item wise, since he is a perfectionist that doesn't mean much. on my normal setup i had like 2.2 or 2.1k life, i forget how much dmg, but it was like in the 3.9k's with charge. the zeal dmg was like 2.2k at 4 fps, good enough to go against the average smiter back then. bow dmg was like 3.6k dmg. i had like 36% LL with that setup. with my other setup, replacing something vamp gaze, lo'd g. angel, and string with lo'd shako/shaft/t-gods i was able to reach 50% LL without losing much damage (it rocked). he got ~370 LR with his normal setup, good enough to not ever equip a 4ptopaz shield or anything.

My best and most fun pvp character was in early to mid 1.09. It was a zealot named Wurmer of course. I know that many despise pvp zealot duel but anyways.

Charms :

A mix bag of grand/large/small charms with life/ar/+ to max damage and life/resistance as well.

This character was most fun, I told it many times, because it was before the first mass duping exploit. No one was carrying 40 x 3/20/20 in there inventory and no one was loaded with 15/40 jewel and the like. Most of what you used was self found and could realisticly be found or traded in the game.

I had much success with this character winning most of my duels and loosing constantly to very few. Me and HandofElysium had some epic duels back than. We basically had the same strategies.

Also I can say without bragging that I was one of the very few first to introduce a combination of Zeal/smite/Zeal. That got me some very unpolite comments from various players, many did not like it.

I got into mage type duel after that but my heart was never really into it and never did much duel with my V/T.

Ok let me take my memory back and post my zealot from .09... I tryed out for many clans and was in AoD in uswest for a little bit then started my own clan, and started to get some recognition as one of the better zealots [dont want to brag here]... before 1.10 hit.

I dueled in paladin pk games like palapk [thanks to the paladin chat ;)], but I usually made my own game: palapkk//legit... or something like that name. I remember dueling people from clans like AoD, DBD, hmm... Those are the only two I could remember, and it was DBD that 9/10 of the times they would kick my *** if I could remember. I would win nearly all of my duels and came close to beating some of the hardest zealots out there, and would always be complimented on my 'hella life leach' that i had.

I remember watching a few zealot duels in early/mid .09 and just wishing I had that character. At the time I had made different kinds of paladins, barbarians, and sorcs - but mostly paladins. My first zealot was really lame... but trade after trade after trade after friend retiring etc got me very rich [i did buy low sell high for ever] - and i got the items i wanted. I ended up making like 10 zealots by the end of .09... usually because of slight stat problems or something - or even because i joined a clan... mine had to be perfect.

Discrimation? The whole build was based on a pathetic programming error from blizzard basically. Now since it has been fixed the CTR is now CYA

God i miss those zealot duels. some lasted like 5 minutes. Those were awsome zeal duels..Blizzard should have never changed life leetch like that, now u can't use it at all in pvp.

and thx to blizzard genious people, now that the ladder was merged into non ladder, the prices are all messed up again... blah, people on ladder had SOJS as currency, people non ladder had Runes Ber Jah Ohm as curency. Now its insane..

1 x 3.20.20 used tobe = 1 x 290 or 1 x rune..

now (after ladder merged)

1x 3.20.20= 2 Runes.

and not tomention a 40/15ias used to be One rune now its like 3-4....

again Thx blizzard for ladder.. considering nobody plays ladder and its kinda pointless.
