Characters Disappearing in Act1?

Earlier today i was in a trading game and i saw two people, barb and sorc, run over to Gheed and suddenly diappear from game with no notice being displayed to indcate that they left. They did not appear on minimap or on the player screen.
This has happened a few other times before and everyone I ask cant give me an answer. I was wondering if this is a hack or bug or something. Anyone know what this is?

Btw: This was on non-ladder US East

Manual dissconnect can make it so that nobody else sees you leave, also, there is a feature ( iirc ) that did the manual disconnect as a quick exit key.

Either that, or you just lagged and didn't see them.

I was thinking, next time people " dissapear " then you could simply just check the message screen, which I usually do when strang things start a happening to me involving player dissapearances.

Althhough this is untested, im almost certain the way to do this is you simply shift +left click any set item (or is it right....well one of the two) when you are with a merchant to auto sell and you get disconnected, but it doesnt say. theres also another way with some stupid hack that ive seen someone do, but that really isnt advantageous anyways....

I too have seen this happen, I was rushing this fellow for his forge and we got to act 4 and he just vanished (of course) it didn't say he left the game.. I did check the messages and he was talking to me up to a point and then just disappeared and i double checked the party and he was gone. :rant:
