Runes not transmuting now?

So i was bored earlier on, i made up a new char, gave him a cube and chucked all the runes from my proper chars into his inventory

(I had millions of the low number ones) So i start transmuting, until i get upto "Thul (10)". Now when i put 3 in the cube they wont transmute, is there a limit? :( I was gonna go whole hog to see how long i could go for

From thul on up you need to add gems to make the runes transmute

I was wondering about this too.
There a list of what gems are required to do the transmuting?

3 Thul runes require a chipped topaz to transmute.

BTW from there you do need gems, but I think that for nonladder, you can't upgrade past a certain level. Something like sol or around there.

for non-ladder, you cant upgrade from THUL.

Wrong!! For non ladder you can upgrade as far as Dol :D
