View Full Version : Best character for building wealth, untwiked?
Hi to all!
For you, which character is the easiest to build, untwinked, to start getting items (high quality) from hell-mf?
thx for advices.
I have a skellimancer necro, level 78, doing nice in Hell in act1 et 2... can it be THE guy? ;)

I have a hammerpally level 80 in act 5 hell. This is my first ladder 2 char & have not been given 1 item for free. I have made a few trades & have now solo'd diablo clone, am able to run mephisto & currently have 150% Magic Find. I have not joined any group games except act 2 hell because my merc could not survive and get me through maggot lair. I also joined with a very weak sorc because I kept meeting a bunch of magic immunes when I tried to get my stat points from the temple in kurast.
Sorcs may be easier but I have never built one so this seems to be the easiest char for me to start building wealth.

Your best bet is any caster character since they are very item independent. All you need is some plus skills gear which aren't too hard to come by on wands/orbs/scepters, circlets and amulets.
The most common examples are MeteOrb sorcs, Hammerdins and Fishymancers.
I have a Barb that I use with Find Item. Whittle down the boss, switch to dual-wield Ali Baba's and kill, then hork the body. It's a double drop! Works great when you are low on rejv's. Go to Blood Moor in Hell and kill unique's then hork bodies. Usually can fill 16 belt slots in a couple runs.
I use a sorc for killing meph using the moat trick and Andariel.
I've had a lot of luck with the Fishymancer mf necro I've been using (assuming fish's guide is for the skeleton summoner like I think it is. He's relatively untwinked, and I've been finding some awesome stuff in the pits (including some good mf gear). I run with about 320-350 mf (depending on what + skills I want). Once you get around 300 mf, pit runs aren't a bad idea with a skelemancer. Much more efficient than trying to kill act bosses in Hell difficulty, which takes me forever.
